( far/ma/ /rtr/ comment) The Magyar Nemzet wrote: CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE IN PM’S RESIDENCE CASE 2005. szeptember 28. 9:31 Gyurcsány’s company built the swimming pool for family use. Last week in Magyar Nemzet a series of articles appeared about the investment in the residence of the Prime Minister and his family. The house stands in the most expensive place in Buda. PM Gyurcsány’s wife, Klára Dobrev had a complete recreational park built in the house with a swimming pool and sauna, contracted by Fittelina Ltd, a company owned in common with her husband. The request for the building permit, however, was not submitted by Fittelina Ltd - it was submitted by the owner of the apartment, Klára Dobrev in January 1996, and the documents prove that it was the family who used the pool. The construction of the swimming pool worth HUF 30 million can be followed from the books of Fittelina Ltd and its successor, Altus company. Below the garden they have built a fitness centre with a 9 feet inner height on 2700 square feet, with two entrances, one from the garden and one from the main, building. The swimming pool hall has a basic area of more than 1350 square feet, while the pool itself in irregular shape takes 630 square feet, complete with heating and lighting from below and a machinery provides a counter current for swimming in one place. In the hall there are ornamental plants and there is a bar, too. There is also a conditioning room, solarium, sauna, showers and cabins with extra equipments providing the prescribed temperature and humidity of the air. The residence had been the property of the selfgovernment and in 1995 it was declared a condominium consisting of three apartments. From the documents it seems to be evident that the investment served family purposes and Fittelina Ltd was founded and registered later to make the investment appear that of a company to reclaim V.A.T. and reduce the costs by amortization. András Batiz, government spokesman claims the investment was legal while Premier Gyurcsány said his company, Altus would sue Magyar Nemzet for libel. In a commercial radio Prime Minister Gyurcsány said it was a political attack against him and he mentioned that Fittelina Ltd had wanted to build an office block on the neighboring site and they submitted a request for a building permit several times at the local self-government. Ferenc Gyurcsány said he was paying special attention to divide his private and business investments. From Gondola.hu THE MOTHER OF FERENC GYURCSÁNY FEELS COLD Hungary’s Prime Minister gave a speech in Battonya, a town touching the border in the South just below the well known cities of Békéscsaba, Orosháza and Gyula. In his speech he was referring to his mother who is living on pension. He said: “I know what it is about to be a pensioner in this country. I see my mother who is residing in two rooms of a tenantry. She only switches on the heat if it is very necessary. Never in the kitchen because the stove gives enough warmth.” The millionaire Prime Minister that weekend assured his audience that he is very familiar with the situation and problems that the pensioners have. He underlined that his mother lives in poverty, from one month to the other. He said that the following Friday the Council of Elderlies will make changes to the pension system starting with helping the widowed people. He continued: “I know what it is to be a pensioner in this country. I see my mother reading the gasmeter, figuring how many cubic meter of gas she consumed that month. The following was probably written by Anna Fazekas, unfortunately I can’t find the proper source. I’ll have it in both languages Elnökünknek anyukája Büdzséd üres, szíved tele, lm egy kis pénz, nyugdíj fele. Engem Apeh nem piszkálhat, Ha fiamnak, magzatkámnak Vaj mit összekuporgatok, S adózatlan adok, adok. Mindig adtam, ez a sorsom, Nem panaszlom. Ám most mondom, Hogy többől többet tudjak adni A Fideszre fogok szavazni!” Your budget is empty, your heart is full, Here is a little money, half of the pension The Apeh can’t bother me, If for my son, for my offspring I scrape up something, And I give, I give without taxes. I have always given, this is my fate, I don’t complain. But as now I say To be able to give more I need more I will vote for the Fidesz. (The Fidesz is the opposition party) Hungarian drug couriers in South American prisons Budapest,(MTI) Four young men from Miskolc, N Hungary, were arrested in Ecuador between last Christmas and Easter, after they had answered an advertisement in the local paper that offered quick money for an easy job which turned out to be cocaine smuggling between Ecuador and Spain. Three out of the four youngsters were given smaller amounts, 1.2-1.5 kilos, of cocaine, which makes it likely that they were used as live-bait, intended to divert attention from a larger operation in the background, the paper said. Under an international agreement, expected to take effect in autumn this year, Hungary could request that Hungarians be extradited and serve their prison sentences in the country after their cases were heard. Parents in Miskolc have in the meantime contacted the Foreign Ministry and various human rights organizations, reporting desperate telephone calls from their detained young men, who said that they had to pay for all prison services, even including drinking water. IMPORT PAPRIKA INVADING HUNGARIAN MARKETS Hungary will produce more paprika in 2005 than last year, but in the medium term production is expected to drop due to much cheaper South-American and African imports, a business paper said on Thursday.
