Erzsi Cserey as Sári Fedák Mécs Éva as Mária Mezei Gabriella Lendvay as Katalin Karády It was a most deleightful Sunday afternoon being entertained by the actresses of the “New York-i Magyar Szinház”. The theme of the show itself was very interesting. It was about three outstanding Hungarian actresses from the first half of the past century and the later years. Also their life in Budapest and here in the United States. In their performance they played parallel remembering the life of an actress and splicing in a suitable act of their time. She wore the stuning outfits of the time, and approprietly marched on the stage with the Hungarian flag. Erzsi Cserey is the director of the Hungarian Theater in New York City. For her work she was awarded Ladies ef Today Remember Ladies of yesteryears the “Pro Cultura Hungarica” in 1999. Gabriella Lendvay presented actress Katalin Karády. Her coloraturesopran voice brought back many memories of the talented Karády, who also had her share of the dictatorial governments. Lendvay also played in several American cities. Presently she visits Hungary to be coached by Margaret Stefano in Budapest. Isván Lakatos, violinist accompanied the songs that the actresses sang, and also played solo music as part of the show Maria Mezei was introduced by two actresses from the Hungarian Theater. The early years was played by Silvia Kovács who started with the Greenwich Acting Company. Extreemly talented young lady. Now she is member of the Hungarian Theater. The mature age of Mezei was acted by Éva Mécs. With her high quality acting she rounded out this very interesting and enjoyable performance that took place at the Bessemer Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The Hungarian Cultural Society of Connecticut and the Pannónia American Hungarian Club sponsored the show. The cast: Gabriella Lendvay, István Lakatos, Szilvia Kovács, Erzsi Cserey, and Eva Mécs.
