At Alba Regia the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation pays tribute remembering October 23, 1956 This year Richard Nemeth joined the celebration of the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation in Berkely Spring, West Virginia at the Alba Regia Chapel. In the previous year the Magyar News introduced the great accomplishment that the HFFF reached establishing this monument of Hungary in the land of the United State of America. In 1981 they held the cornerstone ceremony. After, the chapel adorned with Hungarian style carved woodwork, wrought iron doors and magnificent stainglass windows was built. A cemetery was established also in Hungarian style with a Transylvanian style gate leading to it, and recently a caretakers home was added. Mr. Nemeth was amazed to meet the people who gathered for the ceremony. He found some from his own region, from Ohio and from far away California. Here he found out that George Bien, also from Virginia spent ten years in the Gulag and wrote a book about it in Hungarian. Now he is working on an English edition. Ilona Győrik was honored with a bronze plaque which reads: “...bringing together and motivating people in our organization for forty years.” She was and still is the driving force of all events and the ongoing development of the property. God bless her and all who participate with a Hungarian heart. 1 JA bronze plaque flanked by the two flags in appreciation to the American people. 2JAlba Regia Chapel. 3./ Richard Nemeth with George Bien who spent ten years in the Russian gulag. 4./Ilona Győrik welcoming the celebrating people. 5./ Freedom Fighters gather at the chapel to participate Page 3
