Opening with the National Anthem. On stage are Judith Balogh, President of the Pannónia Club, Reverend Alexander Havadtoy, and MC Dr. Balazs Somogyi, President of the Hungarian Cultural Society of Connecticut. Every year the Pannónia Hungarian American Club organizes with the participation of the other local Hungarian clubs the celebration of the 1848 Patriotic Day, March 15. A sizable audience came to see the program. Judith Balogh opened the afternoon. Followed by the National Anthem and the invocation prayer by Reverend Alexander Havadtoy. The traditional “Talpra Magyar”, the National Song by Petőfi, was recited by László Pal. the children, all who are listed in the pictures recited patriotic poems by outstanding Hungarian poets throughout the program. The guest speaker was the Honorable Dr. László Molnár Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary. He read the message that Viktor Orbán Premier of Hungary sent. It read: “It seems like day before yesterday that a victorious flag of the Osman Empire flew above the Buda Fortress. Where is this Empire today? It 's like yesterday that that the Austrian Emperor and the Russian Czar in a bloody effort put down our sacred Revolution. Where are the Czars today? In the last minutes of world history with earpiercing, rattling tracks the monster sped through the streets of our Capitol. Where is the country that did this to us? They say the water runs and the rock stays. No blow of history ever snapped the backbone of the Hungarians: thay remained the nation of freedom and creation. Though the horrible disasters took their toll on our optimism, but never crippled our love of life, our hope in the future, our overwhelming faith. I have the honor on this first Ide of March in the new Millennium to turn towards the Honorable Dr. László Molnár, Ambassador of the Republic of Hungary nation with good news, that the wounds we suffered are heading. Ever since the reign of King matthias our stars never shined this bright. In a short time the scattered disenbody parts of or nation will join together within a broader European homeland. With the care of God we will enter the nem Millennium with our heads held high, and we could start with a new page and an open heart. ” Then he continued talking about the spirit of March 15, the struggle for independence, the new stars and our freedom, he pointed out how much support Hungary received from the West, he recited the words of Zoltán Pokomyi, Minister of Education; in our most important message for the future we should recognize our own voice in it and it should represent the will of our people. Ambassador Molnár expressed his hope for peace and freedom. He mentioned Kossuth in America, and he strongly emphesized the importance of the Hungarian youth in this country.
