VOICES MAKE HARMONY FOR ALL HUNGARIANS '(•''tmcckdia '(■ ’/(-’it Atmi íj/nwfÁ'ia corned 'to*'/meiioa From time to time, once or twice a year music groups from Hungary come to entertain us. Singers, dancers, gypsy bands feel an obligation to keep our spirits about our ancestors, culture and tradition alive. Naturally we appreciate it at all times. We also hope that our monetary contribution will open the door for a next visit. There are occasions when the binding comes from an other country, not from Hungary. This past March we were visited by Concordia Choir from Slovakia: a choir, whose goal is to bring Hungarians together. Probably this is why they chose their name. It means "holding together" or in this case "harmony." The choir outdid the expectations, they were on a professional level. It was made up of Protestant ministers, teachers and persons from many other fields. The English conferencia, Miss Piroska Stubendek talked about the choir. She started with a quote from Zoltán Kodály: “It is nice when one soul sings along Its much nicer if two souls sing along. Then more and more, hundreds and thousands Till the great harmony starts sounding. ” After, she told us the history of the choir. "It is a mixed choir from Komárom. It was founded twenty years ago by different varieties of people, including ministers, teachers, contractors, engineers, officials and students as well. This “family” of singers have come here füled with joy and pleasure. This choir endeavors to spread religious and secular choral music in a creative way bringing it up to higher levels. It is present at every relevant cultural and religious program and festival of the town Komárom. It travels to many other places, also abroad.
