Dr. Alexander Havadtoy Sunday, October 26 at 9:30 AM at the United Church of Christ 2200 North Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut Come and pay your tribute to the memory of those Hungarians who helped change the world nppucnnoNs FOR THC 1998 MRRV KATONA The American Hungarian Heritage Association offers to area students the 1998 Mary Katona Scholarships, established in memory of the former Town Clerk and civic leader ofFairfield, Connecticut. Scholarships from $500.00 to $1,000.00 are available to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university. Applicants must be of Hungarian background and reside within a distance of 50 miles in a Connecticut, and be a maximum age of 30. Each applicant will be judged on the basis of a./ academic records, secondary school or college, b./ financial need, c./ participation in community activities, and d./ affiliation with American Hungarian organizations, e./ a minimum 2 page written essay on a Hungarian experience is also required. Application forms are available at the local Hungarian churches and committee members, or with a self addressed stamped envelope from Mrs. Bette S. Johnson, 245 Unquowa Road, Apt. 107, Fairfield, CT 06430. Applications must be received by Nov. 30, 1997. It should be sent to the above address. Recipients of the scholarships will be notified in December, 1997. The awards will be given at the Scholarship Tea Party Awards Ceremony on Jan., 4 1998. Hungarian pastries, home-cooked stuffed cabbage, and goulash. Also crafts, “white elephant” and raffles. FEB. 20 and 21. FRIDAY and SATURDAY Hungarian performance with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. See page 5.
