Dr. Alexander Havadtoy spoke about the sentiments in the United State during the 1956 Uprising. The Honorable István Kovács, Consul-General of the Republic of Hungary, described how the Hungarian people are struggling with the hardships and putting all their efforts into establishing democracy and strengthening the country. Paul Tarkó, freedom fighter, talked about his memories of the uprising and also about his participation in it. Margaret Fekete Csóványos read the poem Triumphant Defeat she wrote in 1956. The Hungarian National Anthem closed the program. Following was a delightful luncheon with Hungarian style food and naturally topped of with the outstanding pastries that the ladies baked for the occasion.
