By 1912 the Zamboris were able to buy a saloon in the south end of the city on the comer of Myrtle Avenue and Austin Street. This happened to be on the edge of the Hungarian community and it was mosdy traveled by Irish workers who went to and fro to their jobs that way. In those days all community or nationality groups had a stronger identity and it was difficult to mix. But for some strange reason the Irish labeled everybody from central Europe as Polacks, meaning that they were Polish. The Zamboris weren’t exempt from this label but somehow were able to break through this discrimination. Zsuzsanna Zambori became “Mama Zambori” and View of the Knickerbocker’s mahogany and brass bar Irene Zámbori Warcup taking a ride on the Clydesdale drawn beer-wagon in front of the Restaurant.
