Bethlen Otthon ez év szeptember 1-ével magyar középiskolát, illetve középisko­lai internátust tervez megnyitni. Ez az iskola a teljes amerikai középiskolai (high school) okta­tás mellett és azon túl a régi ma­gyarországi református főgim­náziumok által nyújtott oktatást és vallásos nevelést adja. Táni­­tani fogja tehát a magyar nyel­vet elemitől egyetemi fokig; magyar történelmet, föld- és néprajzot; magyarság-ösmere­­tet; az amerikai s általában a külföldi magyarság történetét, latin nyelvet s azt, ami minden bölcsességnek forrása: vallás és erkölcstant. A tanítás és felü­gyelet kiváló képesítésű európai tanerők kezében lesz. Az Otthon egyik főtörekvése az, hogy né­hány kiváló képességű, szegény­­sorsú ifjú számára kedvezmé­nyes, esetleg ingyenes hely biz­tosíttassák. J.) és Roberta Margaret Jacoby, Mr. és Mrs. Quentin R. Jacoby (Ror selle Park,- N. J.) leánya va­sárnap, április 26-án délután örök hűséget esküdtek egy­másnak. Az esküvő a Roselle Park-i Methodista templom­ban volt, ahol Rev. Marwin W. Green adta a fiatalokra papi áldását. A templomi esküvőt nagy lakodalom követte, mely után az ifjú pár Kentucky­­ba utazott a mézeshetekre, ahol a vőlegény a Fort Knox-i Ireland Army Hospitalban mint gyógyszerész teljesít szolgálatot a hadsereg kötelé­kében. A bájos menyasszony a Montclair State Teachers’ Collegeban szerezte oklevelét és az egyik Westfield, N. J.-i iskolában tanítónő. Férje, St. Miklóssy István Robert a Du­­quesne Universityn szerezte gyógyszerészi d i p 1 o m á j át. Édesapját, Szentmiklóssy Pált nemcsak New Jerseyben, de szerte Amerikában sokfelé na­gyon sokan ismerik, mint aki az Amerikai Magyar Reformá­­ts Egyesületnek immár több mint negyedszázada hűséges, szorgalmas szervezője. Az esküvőn, illetve a lako­dalomban a családtagokon kí­vül ott volt Ft. Béky Zoltán, az amerikai magyar reformá­tus egyház püspöke is, vala­mint az örömapa, illetve a vő­legény lelkésze Nt. Bertalan Imre is (Passaic, N. J.) és Nt. Ferenczy Pál, a Református Egyesület szervezője, a család közeli barátja. A vezér­cikkek ismét felelevnitették a magyar szabadságharc emlékét. Valahányszor megszólal egy nép szabadságának elnyeréséért a világsajtó a magyar szabadság- 1 harcról megemlékezik. Nyugtával dicsérd a napot, Előfizetési nyugtával — a lapot! | Mennyi a kommunista párt-tagok száma az egyes országokban? Az amerikai külügyminisz­térium részletes tájékoztatás­ban ad számot az egyes orszá­gok kommunista pártjai tag­létszámáról. A tájékoztatóból a következőket tudhatjuk meg: A kommunista pártoknak az egész világon 32,500,000 tag­ja van, mely szám a követke­zőképen oszlik meg az egyes országok között: Első helyen áll Vörös Kina — és nem a Szovjetunió — 12,-700.000, a második helyen a Szovjetunió 8,239,000 taggal. Ezt követi az olasz kommunis­ta párt 1,820,000, az indonéz 1.500.000, a csehszlovák 1,-442.000, a lengyel 1,052,890, a jugoszláv 789,624, a román 720,000 a bulgár 484,000 és utolsó helyen áll a magyar kommunista párt 410,000 tag­gal. Ez a kimutatás, melynek számadatai megegyez nek Kruschev által a huszonegye­dik pártkongresszuson közölt adatokkal — maga is élő tanú­ság és bizonyságtétel a magyar nép politikai józansága, sza­­badságszeretete mellett. An­nak dacára, hogy a moszkovi­­ta bábkormány elnyomása az összes csatlóskormáhyok kö­zül a legerősebb Magyaror­szágon, a kommunista párt tagjainak száma ott a legala­csonyabb. Persze, jól tudjuk, hogy ez nem jelent 410,000 meggyőződéses kommunistát, hanem csupán állásukhoz ra­gaszkodó olyan 410-ezer em­bert, aki közül még 10,000 sem mondható igazi, meggyőződé­ses kommunistának. HÍREK RAB-MAGYARORSZÁGBÓL MAGYAR ATOMREAK­TOR MŰKÖDÉSBEN Egy szovjet tervek szerint el­készített atomrekatort építettek egy Budapest melletti helység­ben. Március 24-én kezdte meg a reaktor működését. A reaktor naponta több órát fog működni. Ez az első atomreaktor Magyar­­országon. j . A NAGY CSOPORT HOZZÁTARTOZÓINAK SORSA Mig Nagy és hívei kivégzésé­nek körülményeire még-ma sem derült fény, hozzátartozóikról most érkezett az első hir. Na­gyot és híveit elfogatásuk után — mint ismeretes — Romániába szállították az oroszok. Itt a cso­port jó bánásmódban részesült öt hónapig. Az öt hónap letelte után a férfiakat elszakították feleségeiktől, gyermekeiktől. Később a feleségeket és gyerme­kekeket hazaszállították és csak hazaérkezésük után értesültek a férfiak sorsáról. A Nagy-cso­port kivégzett, vagy börtönbe vetett tagjainak hozzátartozói­val a rendszer enyhény bánik, lakásaikat visszakapták (csak Nagyné nem kapta vissza villá­ját, de számára egy budai lakást utaltak ki) és- dolgozhatnak, de férjeik után semmiféle nyugdi­jat nem kaphatnak. Tekintettel arra, hogy a községben templom nem volt, a lakosság a vasárnapi li­tániákat, áj tatosságokat, stb. en­nél a keresztnél tartotta meg. A merénylet, a falu lakosságát nagy izgalomban tartja. A szom­széd Ajátistvánfalva plébánosa a merényletet jelentette a püs­pöknek és a rendőrhatóságok­nak. A rendőrség kiszállt, fel­vett egy jegyzőkönyvet, de az ügyben mindezideig semmi sem történt.
