JilLU: AQUA A NEW THERMAL HOTEL AT HÉVÍZ SPA The recently opened Hotel Aqua it Hévíz has just about everything -hat guests might desire. True to the ipenly admitted strategy of thermal hotels mushrooming in the Western parts of Hungary who reckon on guests coming back for more everything is there to entice casuals to become regulars. The length of treatment at health resorts varies. The essence is a regular life at least for a few weeks, putting everyday cares behind, so that minds as well as bodies can relax. Hotels at spas are generally not as expensive as others of a similar category. Dining and other arrangements also far less formal. It is not all that rare here that porter, and the sister should know the guests by name, greet them like friends (not to mention doctors, who naturally know each of their patients personally). And it is not surprising that Herr Müller has to say only once that he likes three-minute softboiled eggs, or that Ms. Miller likes to start the day with a drop of whisky. One does not even have to ask for the result of a more interesting game of tennis either, for it is reported soon enough to those interested in it. Thermal hotels were already • in operation at Keszthely and Hévíz. Now the Hotel Aqua also opened its doors (and entertained many guest even in the first weeks). The next thermal hotel is under construction at Sárvár, and the plans of one at Bük are on the drawing board. Apparently a more or less continuous chain of spa-hotels is mushrooming based on the thermal waters of Western Hungary. Hévíz offers relief mainly to rheumatic patients, while the waters of Sárvár are suitable for the treatment of respiratory disorders, and the alleviation of some gynecological complaints. The new hotel bears all of the marks of efforts to give of the best. Some of the rooms have special facilities for the handicapped. The medical wing of the hotel is complete with all the equipment needed for the treatment of patients. And there is yet another seemingly petty, but very important feature: there is no night-club in the hotel. A tavern is available in the basement to those who wish to stay up late, otherwise the nearest nightspot, an espresso where the music is on until the early hours, is about fifteen minutes walk from the hotel. The windows can, therefore, be left open in the 224 rooms of the hotel on balmy nights, no one disturbs those, who want to spend a tranquil hour sitting out on their balcony. The woods left untouched around the hotel also offer pleasant walks. Silence, fresh. air, tranquillity, are just as important to those recuperating there, as the medicinal waters of Hévíz. J. P.
