3rd QUARTER, 1994 QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER OF THE MAGYAR CLUB OF CLEVELAND MAGYAR HERALD "PERPETUATING HUNGARIAN CULTURE SINCE 1924" „A múlt erős, gazdag gyökér, jelen, jövő a múltból él...Arany János...The PAST is a rich and strong hidden source, from it PRESENT, FUTURE obtains life and force!" Words From Our New President Dr. István Tóth President s Message Dr. István Tóth It is with great pleasure that I am looking forward to serving the members and friends of the Magyar Club. It is great fun to be working with a group of very fine and most capable individuals and proven professionals having common goals and interests. One of our goals include helping our former homeland in this difficult time of transformation. Let's work together so we can make a difference. I am most enthusiastic about working with each and every one of you on various teams to develop a long-range plan and to succeed on programs including: 1. ) Invite, network and interact with professional guests from Hungary, just as we did with the 14 professors during our May 20th dinner program, since with our help, these people can make a difference. 2. ) Continue to strongly support the Miskolc-Cleveland Sister City program, including high school/university exchanges, collaboration in culture and arts, design/construct affordable houses, and facilitate the sharing of business, legal and technical "best-inclass" practices. 3. ) Organize and carry out a memorable Magyar Club 70th Anniversary Celebration on October 14th, where we can recognize valuable accomplishments of the past and share our jointly developed vision for the future for even greater achievements. 1 4. ) Develop closer collaborations with other greater Cleveland area organizations such as CHDP, CSU, CWRU and GCGA to leverage the impact of our selected activities. 5. ) Plan and organize trips to Toledo. Toronto and Chicago to establish closer and stronger bonds and joint programs with the Magyar Clubs of those three fine Great Lakes cities. 6. ) Continue our Christmas Party and raise funds for supporting less fortunate Hungarians living in the greater Cleveland area and other worthwhile causes. In developing, deploying and implementing these and other worthwhile programs, I believe that, with your help, your innovative support and our teamwork, we will not only succeed in meeting our joint program goals, but each one of us participating will have lots of fun as well. So, if you want to have fun with us, then just please call and come and join our teams and work with us on these worthwhile and exciting programs, since together we can have fun AND make a difference.
