MR EDWARD M KOVACHY 14500 SOUTH PARK BLVD CLEVELAND OH 44120 4th 'QUARTER, 1988 Meeting of the Board of The Magyar Clu A meeting of the officers and directors of Magyar Club was held on September 14, 1988. The place was again the PEMCO office by the courtesy of Wm. Köteles. Bill Köteles again was the gracious host. The host was president of the Club on two terms, member of the Board of Directors on many terms. President Theodore Tóth conducted a fruitful meeting. Old and new business items were discussed, committee reports were accepted, Constitution and By-Laws changes were debated. Dr. Albert Ladányi, committee chairman will present the final draft of the next meeting of the Board. Two new members applications were accepted by the Board. The two new members are: Joseph Chelenko Jr. architect-engineer and David A. Dugovicz, teacher of the Shaker Heights School System. The New Roster of our members is ready for the printer. All our members will receive a copy in a short time. Social events of the Club were discussed and voted upon and they will be publicized in time. This Fall brings two world famous Hungarian Cultural Groups to our fair city The Kodály Ensemble Hungarian Dance Theater makes its first tour to North America. This acclaimed music and dance ensemble will perform in 22 cities in the United States and Canada. Their Cleveland appearance is scheduled for October 29, Saturday at the Lakewood Auditorium. The group’s artistic philosophy follows the same pattern in dance that Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály established in music decades ago. The highly talented members of the group have been decorated for their skills as folk artists. * The widely-known Budapest Liszt Chamber Orchestra will have its performance in Cleveland at the Cleveland Museum of Art at 8:00 p.m. on November 2, Wednesday. — They will present with their highest musical art the most excellent classics of the greatest Hungarian Composer, Ferenc Liszt, the immortal grand Master of all ages and nations. It is meet and proper that the innermost of his soul has been so wonderfully revealed just now on the first page of our own Magyar Herald. Magyar Club plans to have a reception for the Liszt Chamber group and issues an invitation to all members to attend the performance. The Cleveland ‘Magyar Club’, with the purpose of perpetuating Hungarian Culture, abounds in talents. We will be more than happy to publish the translation in one of our future issues. _______________ New Items For The Magyar Herald On Wednesday, June 8,1988, the Magyar Club of Cleveland entertained István Asperjan, News Editor of Hungarian Radio, Budapest, at a luncheon at Judson Manor. He was quite impressed by Judson Manor and Judson Park facilities and the program offered to its residents. The Magyar Club Members who were present were Dr. Stephen Szabo, Dr. and Mrs. John Palasics, Mr. and Mrs. Dslie Kondorossy, Rev. Frank Shepherd, and Rev. Stephen Szilagyi.
