McKeesport,PA - Rev.Dr.Daniel Borsay, the congregation stopped the Hungarian services because the 80 percent of members are Americans from the neighborhood. Windsor,ONT - Rev.Zoltan Lizik. There are many problems because some church council members who are serving at the church for many years back, criticized the new pastor for his new leadership and ministry. Most of the church members (80 percent) support the new pastor in his faithful service. The situation is very serious. The Bishop and Chief Elder visited the congregation to make decision regarding an appeal by the former church council members. They didn’t accept the result of the decision and made a new appeal to the General Assembly of the Synod and they also reported the pastor to the Immigration Office to cancel his working visa status. I am very disappointed in the former members of the church council leaded by Ms.Elizabeth Mate, who earlier resigned from her office. The congregation needs for the help of the Synod. Western Classis: 13 congregations, 5 pastorsDallas.TX -1 am very happy to report that the Dallas,TX congregation held Mother’s Day church service at May 9, 2010, by the Rev.Zoltan Kelemen, former pastor of the Cleveland,OH West Side church, who informed me that he would like to continue the services with a big hope and faith. As the Chief Elder of the congregation Mr.Peter Vali wrote, 18 adults and 10 children were participated at the service. Again a hopeful restart in Dallas,TX with the help of God. The average attendance is 50-60. Ontario,CA - Rt.Rev.Sandor Szabó. The congregation is very faithful, increasing in donations. Phoenix,AZ - Rev.Dr.Sandor Tenke. The pastor is in Hungary for a very long time after a battle with the immigration law. The future unknown, the congregation wants to provide for substitute pastor because the situation is doubtful. San Diego,CA - Monthly services, small, faithful congregation. San Francisco,CA - Rev.Gabor Magyari-Kope. After a stopping short, the pastor and the congregation going forward with hope. Thanks for the congregations who serve with faithfully and I ask God to give them strength so they can continue to fight our battles and so that their efforts may come to result for the glory of God. The Ministerial Qualifying Committee didn’t have any service in the last nine months. The Youth Camp was a success last year and this year as well. Thank for the service of Mr.Gabor Csapó, Chief Elder of the Trenton,NJ congregation. May God’s bless follow their work. Three volumes of the past due editions of the Magyar Egyház-Magyar Church newspaper were edited in August 2009. I am so sorry and I accept responsibility for the delay of the next issues, part of the problem was my busy schedule again and the other a miscommunication with the co-editor who expected more material from me, while I was under the impression that the material I sent was sufficient. Good news that the absent issues are in the printing office, so it will be mailed as soon as we can. However, the old problem - as I reported it at the Annual Assembly meeting of the Eastern Classis that the pastors are not contributing materials for the newspaper - is still a problem, making the work of the editor harder than it has to be. I thank my colleagues for supporting my work and services in the last year and the last four years also. Mr.Anthony C. Beke, Chief Elder, Rt.Rev.Ferenc Varga,Ecclesiastical Secretary and Dean, Dr.Zoltán Mester, Lay Secretary, Mrs.Szilvia Russell, Treasurer, Mr.Károly Okos, Controller, Rev.Dr.Attila Kocsis, , Rev.Balint Nagy, Deans and every other officer for their faithful service. I wish God’s blessing for the life and service of the pastors, elders of our Synod Thank you and God bless all of you and God bless the Hungarian Reformed Church in America.
