MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 3. oldal 2006. ÉVI KARÁCSONYI KÖRLEVÉL AZ AMERIKAI MAGYAR REFORMÁTUS EGYHÁZ GYÜLEKEZETEIHEZ Kedves Testvérek az Úr Jézus Krisztusban ! Szeretettel köszöntjük az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház gyülekezeteinek lelkipásztorait, gondnokait, presbitereit, szolgálattevőit, az egyház tagjait. Karácsony arról beszél, arról tanít, hogy Isten szeretete Krisztus szeretetén keresztül érkezik a világba, amelyet csak úgy érezhetünk meg, ha mi is és mások is megmutatunk, gyakorlunk, cselekszünk. A karácsony felszólítás: álljunk a szeretetre vágyók mellé, támogassuk az elesetteket, az elhagyottakat, a vigasztalásra szorulókat, Krisztus kicsinyeit, hogy mi magunk is erősödjünk általa. Karácsonykor Isten teremtő szava lesz Krisztusban cselekvő szeretetté. Karácsonykor Jézusban beszél az Isten, O jön el hozzánk, hogy kezdjünk valamit azzal a szeretettel, amit nyújt minékünk, amit emberi szavakon keresztül hallat felénk. A karácsony feladat, a szeretetet tovább kell adni, szeretni kell, Isten kijelentését tovább kell hirdetni. A szerető ember váljon Isten szeretetének látható kijelentésévé ebben a világban. Karácsonykor megtudjuk, hogy mit gondol Isten a világról, karácsony Isten gondolatának kifejezése Krisztusban. 0 velünk van, nem kell félni, általa biztos a jövőnk ! Az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyház új vezetősége elsősorban magára értelmezi a szeretet mindent megváltoztató hatalmának gyakorlását, amikor békességre, együttmunkálkodásra, együtt szolgálásra hívja a gyülekezetek vezetőit, tagjait, a testvérgyülekezeteket. A templomainkban felhangzó bíztatásra és bátorításra indulva mutassa meg amerikai magyar református népünk a bennünk rejlő drága értéket és ajándékot, amely gazdagítson és erősítsen arra, ami mindnyájunknak feladata és kötelessége lesz: krisztusi indulattal élni, dolgozni, munkálkodni, cselekedni, egyszóval szeretni a másik embert és az egyház jövőjét, Isten országát építeni ebben a világban, ahová rendelt minket az Úr. Hittel megerősítve, reménységgel megáldva, szeretettel felvértezve legyünk Isten ügyének képviselői egy olyan világban, amelyik sátáni erővel vissza akarja szorítani az igazat, amelyik ellene van minden szép és jó kezdeményezésnek, amelyik csak azt tartja jónak és haladónak, ami modem és kirívó. Adjon Isten erőt gyülekezeteinknek, hogy megálljuk a helyünket, hogy hitünk erős maradjon egy harcra és küzdelemre kihívó világban. Ne feledjük, Isten helyezett minket ebbe a világba, hogy hitünk által legyőzzük általa a kísértést, hogy mindig felette álljunk azoknak. Ez a mostani karácsony adjon erőgyűjtésre, hitvallásra, szeretetgyakorlásra módot és lehetőséget, hogy aztán az új esztendőben is legyen alkalom megmutatni Istenhez tartozandóságunk valóságát. így kívánunk áldott ünneplést, Krisztus szeretetében való meggyökerezést, hogy teremje az a hitből fakadó jócselekedetek áldott gyümölcseit, tudva azt, hogy “úgy szerette Isten a világot, hogy az O egyszülött Fiát adta, hogy aki hisz Őbenne, el ne vesszen, hanem örök élete legyen. ” János 3:16. 2006 CHRISTMAS LETTER TO THE CONGREGATIONS OF THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH IN AMERICA Dear Brothers and Sisters, Pastors, Leaders and Members of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America. On behalf of the new leaders and officers of our Synod, on this Christmas we repeat the heavenly message of the angels and greet all of you with this peace and goodwill. But has it been anything more than just words? Has it been anything more than the tinsel and the lights and the colored balls which you bring down from the attic once a year, hang on the tree for a week or more days, and then put away again? There are many indications which would lead you to say, no! In the world there is so little of peace and goodwill. We are in war, we spend so much for security, in our homes there is too little of peace and goodwill between man and woman, parents and children. In our inner lives there is precious little peace and goodwill, and every book dealing with inner peace and harmony at once becomes a best seller. What can we as Christians and the members of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America do to make this Christmas message of peace and goodwill come more alive? For one thing we can begin where the message of the heavenly host began, by giving „ Glory to God!” That came first. Only when glory has been given to the heavenly father can you expect peace and goodwill in the world, in the home and in the heart. There is no short cut. Let us keep on repeating this message of glory to God, and coming from it, peace and goodwill among men. No matter what anybody else thinks, you can keep faith that peace and goodwill are possible. We must maintain the abounding faith that peace and goodwill are possible in the world, the home and the heart. We need to maintain the confidence that peace and goodwill are the will of the heavenly father and are therefore possible. As Christians and members of the Hungarian Reformed Community, we have to pray, and we can pray. If there were more honest prayer for peace and goodwill today, there might be more of it. The enemies of the Christmas message in world, home and heart might be put to flight. On this Christmas, we need to remember that the Christmas message of peace and goodwill is a word from heavenly host, and therefore, we believe, truer than any contradictory voices of earth. Each one of us can help to make it ring out again. As we wish a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year for our congregations of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, we ask God and pray to give us peace and goodwill, to dwell more and more in our world, our homes and our hearts. May we help it so to do, following the example of Jesus Christ our Lord. „ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. ” Luke 2:14.
