MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 7. oldal HUNGARIAN REFORMED YOUTH CAMP 2006 This year's summer Youth Camp held in the Laurel Mountains of Pennsylvania was again a wonderful and successful experience, both for the youth and the adults. Twenty-two new campers came and joined us. During the week, some ninety people participated in Camp. Fifteen ffungarian Reformed Churches sent participants this year from across the country. For the adults, the most wonderful aspect of Camp is that they have the opportunity to see young people grow as Christians. Camp is an opportunity for the youth to share their faith without hesitation and they thirst to return the following year. Over the years, the adults watch the children become young adults, both physically and spiritually. They see the youth coming with mixed expectations the first year and coming back eagerly the following years. Shy young people blossom and become leaders in worship and discussion. Lasting friendships are formed. The young people become young adults who want to share the wonderful faith they have acquired or had strengthened at this summer camp experience. This year's theme dealt with sin, a topic all Christians must face throughout their lives. Presentations were made on why we sin, sinning against God, against others, and against ourselves. Speakers this year were the Rev. Zoltán S. Sutto (pastor in Davison, MI), the Rev. Kirk Albrecht (a local pastor who is involved in youth ministry), Jeremy Ritch (a former camper serving in ministry to youth), and Jeff Thaxton (a well-known speaker with youth groups). On Friday a number of our own young people and adults shared their own experiences with Christ and how Ffe has changed their lives. Most of the adults who bring success to the Camp are former campers who continue because of the wonderful experience they had as youth, and now they wish to share this same experience with others. Ministers who attended Camp this year were the Rev. Dr. Attila A. Kocsis (Perth Amboy, NJ), Rt. Rev. Koloman K. Ludwig (Bishop, Calvin Synod, IN), Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi (Bishop Emeritus, Calvin Synod, Fairport Harbor, OH), Rev. Csaba Krasznai (Walton Hills, OH) and Rev. Zsolt Ötvös (Columbus, OH). All pastors are encouraged to come to Camp to experience the rewards of this ministry. The success of camp this year was also due to the Co- Camp Directors, Ms. Priscilla Hunyady and the Rev. Zsolt Ötvös, who served in this capacity for the first time this year. We thank them and the devoted counselors who come to Camp each year for their service to this uplifting activity. Camp in 2007 will be from July 22 to 28. We hope to see new and old campers at this worthwhile summer experience.
