MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 5. oldal Eternal life Death Four hundred years before the birth of Christ, the renowned Greek philosopher Socrates drank the poison hemlock and lay down to die. “Shall we live again?” his friends asked. The dying philosopher could only reply: “1 hope so, but no man can know.” Apart from the Resuurection of Jesus, no one has ever returned from death to tell us what’s on the other side. After His crucifixion, eleven terrified men sat in a locked room afraid they too would be killed. From their perspective, when Jesus died so did their dreams for the future. The hope of His Resurrection wasn’t something they seemed to take very seriously. Yet in a short time, their live would be transformed as Mary Magdalene came running with the startling news that the Lord’s tomb was empty. Hope for tomorrow There’s hope for tomorrow, Even when things look dim; There’s hope for tomorrow When you put your trust in Him. Though darkness surrounds you, He’s always there, With arms that will hold you In His loving care. Just when you thought You have lost everything, He’s right there beside you With comfort to bring. And you’ll know assurance, He’ll never depart, For He’s dwelling inside you, Right there in your heart. Connie J. Kirby There are more than five billion people on this earth. How many of them are lost ? It is hard to say. And who really cares how many people are lost ? Every time you draw a breath four people go into eternity who have never heard the name of Jesus. That is almost 200,000 people a day ! God help us to become concerned. Safe Keeping Do not look forward to the changes and chances if this life in fear; rather look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose you are, will deliver you out of them. He is your keeper. He has kept you hitherto. Do you but hold fast to His dear hand, and He will lead you safely through all things; and, when you cannot stand, He will bear you in His arms. Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow. Our Father will either shield you from suffering, or He will strength to bear it. Si. Franc is de Sales Nothing that I can do will change the structure of the universe. But maybe, by raising my voice I can help the greatest of all causes - goodwill among men and peace on earth. Albert Einstein Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. George Washington Faith Resurrection of Christ While in an art gallery a man gazed intently at a picture of Christ hanging lifelessly on the Cross. Tears tricled down the man’s cheeks as he contemplated the pain Jesus suffered when the nails were driven into His hands and feet. In a miment a little boy stood at the man’s side. Lokkoing down, the tearful man asked: “Do you know who that is in the picture?” “Why, sure,” the boy replied, “that’s Jesus. He died for our sins. I learned that in Sunday school.” A short time later the man walked away from the picture. He hadn’t gone far when he felt a tug at his coat. “Say mister,” the boy said, “I wanted to tell you that you don’t need to cry. Jesus came alive again!” Faith can move mountains, No matter how steep, And calm the rough waters, No matter how deep. Faith can change darkness To heavenly light, While leading us tranquilly Out of the night. All this I can grant With assurance, you see, For countless are the mountains Faith has moved for me. Laura Baker Haynes Calvary A drunken man staggered up to a New York policeman and asked how to find a night club called “Hell’s Gate.” “See that steeple over there?” asked the policeman. “That’s the steeple of Calvary Church. Just keep going past Calvary and you’ll come to the Hell’s Gate.”
