MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 19. oldal TRENTON, NEW JERSEY Pastor: Rev. László Ujj 180 Home Ave., Trenton, NJ 08611 Chief Elder: John Molnár The Trenton congregation is known to have manifold blessings. We have a beautiful sanctuary with huge Europian crystal chandeliers second to none. Our Elders no only maintain the facilities, but proportionally they are a most active group in the leadership circle of the denomination. Our church groups from the youngest Sunday School child to the most hard working noodle makers of the Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Ladies'Aid all eager to give their best efforts for the fulfillment of their plans. So, it is not all that surprising that after a trying winter lull these groups all redoubled their strength to help with an important mission of our church: to support the new Bethlen Home in Ligonier, PA. The plan was to invite Rev. Imre A. Bertalan, Executive Director of the Home to speak about their mission in Ligonier. Its date was set March 13th to connect with our commemoration of the 1848 Hungarian National Revolution. So, the Ladies Aid made their stuffed cabbages and the Youth Group volunteered to serve a dinner for the congregation. They all worked for free of charge to the glory of God! And these works gave rise a great scene and reward during the lunch, when our church leaders presented the Bethlen Home with a $25.000 contribution. We all know it was truly needed: while the care provided within the old walls was the best possible, specially in spiritual care, the beautiful facilities of the new building will open up new blessings to all residents and providers. Presently, our congregation has three members under their care, but with these new services we are assured that we all can count on a modem place where our traditional values available! We plan to make our support for the Bethlen Home ongoing with prayer and financing alike. “Be as eager to finish it as you were to plan it, and do it with you now have. If you are eager to give, God will accept your gift on the basis of what you have to give, not on what you don’t have.” (2 Corinthians 8:11-12) AMEN ! Rev. László Ujj AMREICAN HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH 9901 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI 48101 Tel: 313-382-1001 Pastor: Rev. Frank Varga. Dean Chief Elder: Mrs.Margaret Tarkanyi Our hearts are filled with gratitude to God our Lord who continues to provide for us and lead us in the daily life of our church and in being his witnesses for him in the world. We gather to worship God in his sanctuary faithfully on Sundays and study his Word in our Bible Studies on Wednesday afternoons. Lent began with the lovely event of our traditional Soup Supper on Ash Wednesday following our Worship service. The Prayer Chain invites all to enjoy this fellowship and food which is free to all. Throughout the season of lent we gathered together for a time of songs, reflection, prayer and meditation around the “Why?” questions of the passion of our Lord. Our English worship service is at 9:30 AM followed by the Hungarian service at 11:00 A.M. on Sundays. During the services we offer Sunday School in both languages. We are filled with joy and are grateful to the Lord, that the number of our Sunday School students is growing and we are thankful that God inspired one of our member Niki Jones to join us as a new teacher. Part of our worship service is dedicated to our children. Parents bring them to the sanctuary and after the Children’s Sermon they go to their classroom. Our Youth Group under the faithful and dedicated leadership of Anita Miko is meeting twice a month. We are grateful that once again we have a Youth Group and it is our prayer that they will become pillar members of our church. In our Bible Study at this time we focus on the Old Testament book of Ruth In our confirmation class we had four young people. After spending months with diligently studying the Bible and our Reformed Creeds they made their confirmation on Sunday, May 1st. A number of fellowship events characterized the social life of our congregation. The Golden Circle had a Ham raffle before Easter. The Hungarian Heritage Preservation Circle (Magyar Hagyományokat Ápoló Kör) organized the Pork Dinner (Disznótoros Ebéd). In May they invited everyone for a Gulyas and Vargabeles dinner. The men of the church once again this year cooked for the Mothers’ Day dinner. Our Martha Circle organized their annual Family Night. We all had good fellowship, and as always, delicious food and desserts for the members of the group and their families. And just recently the Sunday School students and teachers organized a Continental Breakfast to raise funds for their activities. With gratitude in our heart for God’s gracious providence in the past, and we seek his Word and Holy Spirit to strengthen us for witnessing and faithful work in his kingdom. Very Rev.
