MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal ANNUAL MEETING OF THE EASTERN CLASSIS The Eastern Classis of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America held its annual meeting on Sunday, March 7th at the Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, NJ. The opening devotional was delivered by the host pastor Rev. Dr. Attila Kocsis. Let us be a living Church, he emphasized as it is the will of God with us. Following the opening of the Assembly by Dean Rev. Barnabas Roczey the roll call was initiated. When the Dean declared the 2003 Annual Meeting to be fully constituted, a motion was made and approved to seat all corresponding members. The agenda of the Meeting was considered and approved along with also distributed copies of the March 2nd, 2003 past Annual Meeting and with the current Report of Dean. The Bishop Andor Demeter gave his address to the Assembly, emphasizing the Church lives in the faithful service of its members, where even the smallest ones can make a statement. Mr. Anthony Beke, Chief Elder of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America stated while our problems abound. Rev. Dr. Francis Vitéz, Bishop of the Calvin Synod in his prayer asked God's blessing, vision and strength to this fellow denomination. Rev. Albert Kovács, the new Dean of the Eastern Classis of the Calvin Synod brought greeting from his Classis. Rev. Imre Bertalan in his greetings praised God for his continuing recovery and his visiting with the Assembly. Itt a jelenlévők átadták szeretetük üdvözleteit egymásnak, újra megerősödvén Isten azon jótéteményeivel, amellyel Urunk immár 110 munkás év után is kész meggazdagítani az O választottak a mi közös boldogságunkra! Nt. Ujj László, lelkipásztor work is possible: in Washington there is no building and no permanent minister, but a student minister leading the community of faith. Rev. Alexander Forro, Bishop expressed his joy about the strengthened state of the Assembly, where now the former New York Classis found its place. He also informed the Classis, that while Poughkeepsie is doing faithful service, Roseton and Peekskill closed now. Mr. Leonard Sendelsky, Chief Elder of the Carteret congregation spoke on the need of reform to arrest decreasing attendance in his church that was echoed by Mr. John Molnár from the Trenton Church. A lively debate followed and the matter was placed at the agenda of a future Elder's Association Meeting. The Assembly also heard the Report of the Chief Elder, Mr. Frank Király and the Treasurer, Mr. Andrew Lovász. The Reports were accepted. Dean Roczey appointed the following committees: Recommendation and Financial, then a recess was ordered. Following the recess the reports of the committees were made and accepted by the Assembly. The Classis then remembered its passing members by giving thanks to God for their contribution. Announcements of upcoming events in the congregations were made and the place and date of the 2005 Classis Meeting was determined. Then the Assembly was invited to fellowship dinner offered by the host congregation following the Adjournment and prayers offered. Rev.
