i. MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal Ifjúsági munkákat előkészítendő, július 21-én, vasárnap nagy sikerű pikniket tartottunk léghűtéses nagytermünkben. A szórakoztató zenét a Ti-Ko zeneduó szolgáltatta. Az alkalmon 110-en vettek részt. Gyülekezetünk olyan módon is támogatta New York és környéke magyar kultúrális életét, hogy két előadásra helyet biztosított a New York-i Magyar Színház számára. Továbbra is megtartottuk havi gyülekezeti ebédünket. Református ökumenénk július 27-én, szombaton olyan módon nyilvánult meg, hogy a lelekipásztor látogatást tett a Warthoni Magyar Presbiteriánus Egyház piknikjén. A kis gyülekezetben példásan és odaadóan végzi a szolgalatot Oláh Károly teológiai hallgató, feleségével, Ágnessel és orgonistájával, Ilkeiné Vass Gabriellával, valamint sok hűséges magyar egyháztaggal. Július 31-én, szerda reggel más Upper East Sidebeli vallási vezető részvételével Endrew Eristoff republikánus állami szenátor jelölttel reggelizett a lelkipásztor. Templomunk aktuális problémáiról, jövőbeli tervekről és lehetőségekről folyt értékes eszmecsere. Augusztus első hétfőjén Nt. dr. Bertalan Imre esperes látta vendégül a keleti parti magyar református lelkészeket a Hopatkong tó partján lévő családi villájában. Finom gulyáslevest és palacsintát ettek a résztvevők, majd megmártózhattak a korábbi napok hősége következtében kellemes langyossá melegedett tó vizében, míg mások megelégedtek csónakázással. A parókiára beszereltettünk két új léghűtő berendezést. Köszönet értük a gondoskodó gyülekezetnek. Minden hónapban megtartottuk rendes presbiteri gyűléseinket. Terveink között szerepel az ifjúsággal való még hathatósabb foglalkozás és egyháztagjaink komolyabb tájékoztatása gyülekezetünk közügyéiről. Az úrvacsorái jegyeket és bort Harris Richárdné pénztárosunk adományozta. Június 1-én egyházunk Női Köre jólsikerült ételvásárt rendezett egy városkörnyéki áruháznál. Június 16-án Apák Napi ebédet rendeztünk. Július 14-én a Női Kör Nyári Ebédet rendezett a gyülekezeti teremben. Július 28-án, Új kenyérért hálaadásul, istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással. Az úrvacsorái jegyeket erre az alkalomra Kovács Vince algondnok és neje adományozták. Augusztus 11-én hangulatos Nyári Pikniket rendeztünk egyházunk templomkertjében. ROSETON, NEW YORK Június 9-én pünkösdi istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással. Szeptember 8-án Új Kenyér és Új Borra összevont úrvacsorái istentiszteletet tartottunk. Az úrvacsorái kenyeret és bort mindkét alkalomra Széli Fred gondnok-pénztárosunk adományozta. Projects of needed maintenance, plans of regular and new programs are all vying for attention of Christian workers and solid financial backing. In May the later requirement was jeopardized when state officials put the future of the International Charter School into limbo. This School rents our Beky Building and their payments are part of our budget. As many of our member and adherent families are living on fixed budgets, the possible loss of this income weighted heavily on our minds and plans. Thankfully, after much not all that unusual secrecy and delay, the bureaucracy has extended their charter. By then, our preparations on the details of the new rental terms were done (I would like to thank specially the work of John Molnár here), and we were ready to sign our agreement with the School. So, this trial of uncertainty is over and by now our Sunday School is ready to return to freshly painted and carpeted classrooms for a new year of learning. The other highlight and joy of the summer was the presence of our Youth Group on the church services. Yes, they went to the summer Bible Camp regularly before and they also helped a great deal both in the church and in the community. But now they come to church Sunday after Sunday! Their attendance raised not only our numbers (always a challenge in the summer!) but our hopes too. We thank God for them, praying that their example may be contagious to others! They went to the Summer Camp in a good spirit, and upon their return I was glad to hear from them that this year’s program was the best yet. I thank God for the work of their counselors there who along with the generosity of the HRFA and William Penn companies make these summer camps possible. I urge our sister churches to consider these opportunities in their future plans to their satisfaction in the glorious service of our Savior, to Whom be praised and glory for all! Rev. László Ujj
