So they started the year with a heartwarming special church service. Those who attended the Summer Camp shared their learning with the congregation, while Tom Sutton gave a well-detailed account to us about his summer trip to Spain. His experiences in Europe and the beautiful photos he presented surely gave many new dreams and powerful incentives for all of our youth to learn about the values of other languages and cultures. Their monthly breakfasts between the Hungarian and English church services are very popular events. The free-will offerings collected on these occasions helped them to raise funds for a Christmas bus trip to the Pennsylvania Christian music show. Many church families went together for this noble entertainment. The youth group also helped the congregation by serving the meals on our Reformation Dinner. We all appreciate such help given to our hard working Lorantffy Ladies’ Aid, whose contribution to the success of our church dinners is always most important. On Reformation Day the whole congregation enjoyed the meaningful speeches given by our guest speakers from Princeton Theology. Professor Hughes Old spoke in English, while Rev. Gabor Egeresi addressed us in Hungarian. In their speeches they underlined, the Reformation is more than a chain of history. Instead, Reformation is a common American-Hungarian treasure now and as such it is our obligation to continue, just as the famous motto of the Reformation points it out: THE CHURCH IS ALWAYS IN NEED OF REFORMS. Advent once again brought the Sunday School to the forefront in our church life: their dinner and the program following filled our Beky Hall to its full capacity and we all rejoiced in their presentation and they rejoiced receiving gifts from the generous givers. The Youth Group also had a food collection drive and we gave from these gifts not only to a Mission Agency, but also to a struggling church family (charity always has to begin at home!). The Christmas Services were well attended and we all celebrated the arrival of our Savior in his joy and thus fulfilling the promise of the season at the end of 2000. We pray that His Spirit will continually guide our lives in faith, hope and love in this new century! Rev. Értékelem a presbitérium, élén Okos Károly főgondnok egyházérdekű szolgálatát, hogy nagytiszteletű Fodor Dénes lelkipásztor 2000. július 31- el nyugalomba vonulásával megüresedett szolgálati helyét egyházunk alkotmánya erre vonatkozó rendelkezése alapján betöltötték. Meglepetéssel vettem tudomásul Fodor Dénes lelkipásztor testvérem megfontolt döntését, hogy a hollywoodi hat esztendős hűséges, eredményes szolgálata után nyugdíjba vonul és visszatér édes szülőföldjére. Lelki áldást nyújtott július 30-án a nagyszabású búcsú istentisztelet és az ünnepélyes közebéd. Az Úr ajándékának tekintem Fodor Dénes lelkipásztor széles skálán mozgó szellemi-lelki munkásságát, mélyen szántó evangéliumi igehirdetését. A hivatalos beszolgálói teendőket Szabó Sándor ontarioi lelkipásztor, egyházmegyei tanácsbíró felelősen látta el. Igehirdetéssel szolgáltak: Danyi István, Szép Róbert és Nagy Bálint. 2000. augusztus 27-én a törvényesen egybehívott lelkészválasztó közgyűlés 2/3-os többséggel (a jelenlévők 98%) megválasztotta nagytiszteletű Nagy Bálint (Reseda, CA) lelkipásztort. Az egyházközség hivatalos átadása szeptember 19-én, a szolgálatba lépés október 1-én megtörtént.
