STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK Leslie E Martin, Supply Pastor 19 Winant Place, Staten Island, New York 10309 Telephone: (718) 984-2594 Chief Elder: Linda Hauck Telephone: (718) 984-6415 We continue to receive God’s blessings here in Staten Island, and we are so grateful for the wonders He brings to us. On December 20, 1998, we welcomed three new members into our church family: Sandra and Debra Teixuro were confirmed here in 1969, and they have recommitted themselves to our faith along with Debbie’s fiancé, Edward Cutler. But, even more exciting, was the wedding of Ed and Debbie, which took place in the church on January 23, 1999. The news of their wedding hit the Staten Island newspapers, not only because weddings are so special, but because of the unusual circumstances surrounding this blessed event: Ed is a twin...Debbie is a twin...and our supply pastor who performed the ceremony, Les Martin, is a twin! The annual congregational meeting was held on Sunday, February 21, 1999. Our treasurer gave a positive report for 1998. A full report of mission and outreach activities was submitted by the Board of Elders. Although our membership is small (25), we are grateful we were able to reach out to those less fortunate in Staten Island, Canada, Hungary and the Ukraine. Our fund-raising events draw large numbers of people from all over Staten Island, and we continue to receive support from the local community. The meeting concluded with the election of the 1999 officers of the Board of Elders. The following 1998 officers were re-elected: Linda Hauck, President, Jeffrey Nemeth, Vice President, Helen Newly elected Board of Elders: Linda Martin, Jeff Nemeth (Vice President), Helen Cutler (Treasurer), Pastor Les Martin, Joan Reischour, Jennie Torzsas, Terry Naeder, Helen O’Donnell, Linda Hauck (Chief Elder), Eleanor Szász (Secretary), Irene Belansky. (1. to r.) Cutler, Treasurer and Eleanor Szász, Secretary. Pastor Martin administered the oath of office. A fellowship luncheon in the church hall followed the meeting. In addition to weekly worship services, Pastor Martin has been providing catechism instruction to our 2 junior confirmants, Lauren Stockert and Andrew Cutler. There are also 2 children in the Sunday School program, Billy Long, age 6 and Brian Cutler, age 9. The children are working very hard and we are all proud of them! Our worship services are followed by coffee hour each week. We invite you, each and everyone, to join us on Sunday morning and enjoy the glorious fellowship we share here! “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Coloss ians 3:17” LindaHauck
