10. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ MEETING OF THE MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION The 70th Annual Meeting of the American Hungarian Reformed Ministerial Association was held on Labor Day weekend on September 7 and 8 in Ligonier. PA. The meeting opened with a special Divine Worship Service in the Chapel on Mount Moriah, which was filled to capacity with presbyters who just concluded their annual conference and the newly arrived pastors from the various congregations from throughout the United States and Canada. The Divine Worship Service with Holy Communion was conducted by the officers of the Ministerial Association and President of the Presbyter’s Association, the Rev. Stefan M. Torok, President of the Ministerial Association, the Rev. Paul Kantor, Associate President, the Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi, Vice President, the Rev. Barnabas Roczey, Secretary, the Rev. Albert W. Kovács, Treasurer the Rev. Paul Kovács, Administrator of the Bethlen Home and Mr. Les Martin President of the Presbyter’s Association. The Divine message was delivered in Hungarian by the Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Church of Hungary, Bishop of Debrecen on the text from the letter of Apostle Paul to the Philippians, Chapter 2 verses 9-11. Rt. Rev. Dr. Gusztáv Bölcskei, Bishop of the Synod of Hungary Following the Worship Service, a delicious lunch was served to all in attendance at the Bethlen Home. The actual meeting of the Association started at 2:00 p.m. with the usual points of order of the reading of the minutes, treasurer’s report and greetings by our special guests. Greetings were extended by the Presiding Bishop of Hungary, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Gusztáv Bolcskei, who extended the greetings of his fellow bishops as well as the greetings of the pastors and leaders of the many congregations in Hungary. Attending the meeting from Hungary was the Rev. Bertalan Tamas, Secretary of the External Affairs of the Synod’s Office from Hungary, also by the Editor of the official publication of the Reformed Church of Hungary, the Rev. Lenke Nagy, Rev. Lenke Nagy, the editor of the Hungarian weekly, Reformátusok Lapja Special greetings were also expressed on behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Hungary in Washington D.C. by the Cultural Representative Zsófia Trombitás. Greetings were also extended by the Administrator of the Bethlen Home, the Rev. Paul Kovács, President of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Mr. George Dózsa, newly elected President of the Presbyter’s Association, Mr. Frank Dudash, the Rev. August Molnár, on behalf of the Hungarian Studies Foundation and many more guests were acknowledged. The first item on the agenda for the afternoon was the presentation of Bishop Bolcskei about the :“Present situation in their churches, their problems and plans for the future”.
