Since that is not something that can be compelled, after much discussion a motion was made by Lillian Banyacski, Perth Amboy, seconded by Irene Kovács, Poughkeepsie, and carried, that the yearly donation of participating churches be a suggested $100.00 or as much as the individual women’s group can donate. Donations to the general fund were received from various delegate churches present, and the Perth Amboy church turned back the receipts form the registration to the Church Women United, to add to the treasury. By motion, made by Cindy Torok, Perth Amboy, seconded by Ethel Niemiera, Perth Amboy, the following donations were approved by the delegates: Bethlen Home $100.00, Youth Camp 200.00, Magyar Egyház 100.00, American Hungarian Foundation Rev. Ollie Benko-Hall 100.00, Student Ministers: Les Martin and Rev. Abraham Kovács 100.00, Nagyvárad College $100. The following slate of officers for 1999 was presented by the Nominating Committee: President Sandy Todash, Roebling, Vice President Evelyn Fodor, New Brunswick, Secretary Elizabeth Soltész, Roebling, Treasurer Piroska Hunyady, Linden, Chaplain Elsie Loki, Perth Amboy, Delegates-at- Large: Zsuzsanna Prundl, Carteret, Eva Szabó, Cliffside Park, Nancy Chester, Poughkeepsie, Helen Cutler, Staten Island, (Trenton to be filled later), Margaret Kovács, Woodbridge. A motion was made by Helen Bordash, Roebling, seconded by Irene Kovács, Poughkeepsie, and carried to accept the slate as announced. The oath of office was administered by Bishop Alexander Forro. Linda Hauck, Statent Island, presented Elsie Loki with a gift on behalf of the conference for serving as President and organizing this year’s conference. Linda Hauck, Chaplain, closed the meeting with a prayer, which was followed by the singing of the hymn “God be with you until we meet again” (Isten velünk). Elsie Loki thanked everyone for their attendance and invited the delegates, clergy and guests to the Church Center for a fellowship dinner. The invitation was extended for the fortieth Annual Conference to be held on May 2, 1999 in Roebling, New Jersey. A lovely afternoon of fellowship was enjoyed, both at the conference and at the informal supper hosted by the Perth Amboy Women’s Guild, under the leadership of their President, Helen Loki-Planko. Old friendships were renewed, and new friends brought into the fold, and we hope all delegates went home with a renewed spirit to keep working in His service for the betterment of our church and its people. Priscilla A. Jenkins, Secretary THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE PRESBYTERS’ ASSOCIATION - LIGONIER 1998 The 52nd Annual Conference of the American Hungarian Reformed Presbyter’s Association will be held at the Bethlen Home Conference Room in Ligonier, Pennsylvania on Sunday, September 6, and Monday, September 7, 1998. All Chief Elders, Church Council Presidents, Elders, members of the consistory, Presbytery or Church Council and their families are cordially invited to attend. Last year, we continued our workshop and discussions regarding the 21st Century, and enjoyed wonderful insights and discussions with Presbyters’ Association members. Since then, the 21st Century Committee has engaged several of our churches in workshops designed to facilitate planning discussions. I am delighted to report that much progress has been made by those churches. We will report on that at the Annual Conference. This year our main topic of discussion will be a presentation and discussion regarding the development of a Master Plan for the Bethlen Home. The Bethlen Home Strategic Planning Committee is developing a Master Plan document which will address all issues and lay out a plan for the future. The Committee will have reached a critical decisionmaking point by September, and we will be seeking your help in discussing and finalizing the Master Plan. It is the Committee’s desire to have the Bethlen Home remain an active center of our Hungarian Reformed culture. This has been an exciting endeavor, and you’ll want to hear about some of the new proposals. Since this is an important meeting, we are asking that you bring more people so that we have maximum input. Please join us this year! Leslie E. Martin, President
