Az összevont, kétnyelvű ünnepi istentiszteletet 25-én d.e. 11 órakor tartjuk meg. Sziveszterre magyarországi vendégművészeket várunk: Szabó Sándor (billentyűs hangszerek) és Horváth István (klarinét, szaxofon). Ok mar két korábbi rendezvényünkön is közreműködtek és nagyon népszerűek köreinkben. Minden kedves magyar testvérünknek kívánunk áldott, békés és boldog ünnepeket. A közelgő év fordulóján és az eljövedő 1998-as esztendőben legyen rajtunk Isten áldása! László Telefon: (212) 861-1854 Szeptembertől újraindítottuk népszerű ebédeinket. Október elején megemlékeztünk az aradi vértanúkról, a hónap végén pedig az 1956-os forradalom mártírjairól. Gyülekezetünk adott otthont a keleti part lelkészegyesületi gyűléseinek. Október 8-án nagyon jól sikerült szüreti bálát tartottunk, mely szép jövedelmet is eredményezett a kellemes szórakozás mellett. A szüreti bál előkészítéséért és lebonyolításáért köszönetét érdemel Pipó Feri bácsi. Kis Dénes presbiter és felesége Ilonka valamint Nagy Rózsika. A bárban Bogdán Mihály gondnok állt helyt, akinek példáját követi felesége, Gabriella. Gyülekezetünkben október 19-én, vasárnap, az új prinecetoni ösztöndíjas, Kovács Ábrahám tiszteletes szolgált igehirdetéssel. Templomunkban október 25-én Iványi Zoltán testvérünk földi maradványai felett hangzott el a feltámadás vigasztaló üzenete. Október utolsó vasárnapján új borért 52-en adtunk hálát úrasztali közösségben, mely alkalommal a Reformáció ünnepéről is megemlékeztünk. Itt kerültek ajándékként kiosztásra azok a Kálvin-csillagok, melyeket Benkő László jegyző-ellenőr testvérünk adományozott. Magyarországról visszatérve Csordás Erzsébet testvérünk 16 újfordítású Bibliával lepte meg a gyülekezetei. Isten áldása legyen a jókedvű adakozón! Terveink között szerepel a vasárnapi iskola beindítása, melyet nagytiszteletű Zoltai Józsefné, Anikó vállalt minden második vasárnapon. Ezúton buzdítjuk a gyermekes házaspárokat, hogy jöjjenek családostól a templomba, hiszen a kicsinyeknek ugyanolyan szükségük van Isten igéjére, mint a felnőtteknek. Hamarosan szeretnénk beindítani az ifjúsági és a felnőtt bibliaórákat, illetve igény esetén, a házi istentiszteleteket. Szintén meghirdettük új szolgálatunkat, a gyógyszersegélyt Erdély és más elszakított terület számára. Kérjük testvéreinket, hogy fel nem használt gyógyszereiket ne dobják ki, hanem küldjék el címünkre. Orvos híveinktől pedig az orvosságok felhasználását segítő tanácsokra lenne szükségünk. Isten legyen gyülekezetünk őriző pásztora. The month of October brought us closer to the Word of God as we commemorated the 480th anniversary of the Reformation. Holy Communion was observed at both divine worship services on Sunday, November 2nd. On this day also Tombstone dedication services planned, however due to the weather it had to be postponed first to the following, than again to the following Sunday, until it was cancelled altogether. Our most remarkable event of the whole year was celebrated on Sunday, November 23d. when during a Special Divine Worship Service we commemorated the 50th anniversary of the existence of the Women’s Guild, as well as we gave thanks to God for the 20 year service of our former pastor, the late Rt. Rev. Dr. Dezső Abraham, who—as our readers know—suddenly and unexpectedly went to be with the Lord this past summer. A special plaque in his honor has been placed on the wall of honor in our Church Center. Also special tribute was offered on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Ordination of the Christian ministry to our pastor. Special reports of these events can be read in a separate article in this issue. As we approach the end of the year, we focus our attention in these advent days on the coming Christmas. We extend a cordial invitation not only our church members but to the greater community to worship with us and receive the greatest gift of Jesus Christ. In our by-monthly newsletter mailed to our members we communicated the special events and time of worship services that will be offered in the House of God during the holidays. Christmas caroling as a tradition still continues in our church, when a handful of singers and our youth will visit the home of our members with their carols. We hope this tradition will continue. To all our readers, families and friends we wish a joyous Christmas season and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
