THE BISHOP’S PARTICIPATION IN MEETINGS AND OTHER OCCASIONS: (Since our last meeting on June 8, 1996) 1. The Illrd Hungarian Reformed World Congress: a. The Bishop on July 31st, 1996 participated in the meeting of the Hungarian Reformed World Federation in Debrecen, Hungary. b. On August 2nd, the Bishop participated in the special meeting of the Consultative Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Churches at Nagyvárad, in former Hungary. c. The Bishop on August 3rd attended the grand opening ceremonies of the Illrd Hungarian Reformed World Congress at Nagyvárad. d. The Bishop was the quest preacher on August 4th at the Óvári Church, in former Hungary. e. On the same day, the Bishop conveyed the greetings of our denomination to the congregation of the Church in Szatmárnémeti, formerly Hungary. f. On August 5th, the Bishop on behalf of our denomination, greeted the congregation of Sárközújlak, formerly Hungary. g. On August 7th, the Bishop preached at the Irisz-telep Church of Kolozsvár, Transylvania. h. On the same day, the Bishop conveyed the greetings of our denomination to the great congregation of the Farkas Street Church in Kolozsvár, Transylvania. i. On August 8th, the Bishop preached the Gospel at the Church of Szatmárnémeti, former Eastern Hungary. (Altogether nine occasions!) 2. On September 1st, the Bishop visited the McKeesport, PA Church and delivered the Hungarian sermon. 3. On September 1-3 the Bishop attended the annual conferences of the Hungarian Reformed Presbyters Association and the Hungarian Reformed Clergy Association at the Bethlen Home of Ligonier, PA. 4. On September 4th, the Bishop was one of our representatives at the annual meeting of the Bethlen Home, in Ligonier, PA. 5. On September 15th, the Bishop participated in the 100th year jubilee celebrations of the Hungarian Reformed Churches in the U.S.A., as well as the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America in our church in Trenton, NJ. 6. On September 16th, the Bishop attended the meeting of the Hungarian Reformed Federation and the following banquet dinner at New Brunswick, NJ. 7. On October 7th the Bishop was present at the Funeral Services of dr. Andrew Harsanyi, our former Bishop, at the Carteret Church, N.J. 8. On October 26th, the Bishop was the guest speaker at the memorial celebrations of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution at-the fellowship hall of the Roman Catholic Church of Passaic, NJ. 9. On November 8th, the Bishop attended the Hungarian Protestant Ball in North New Jersey. 10. On November 18th at the N.Y. 82nd Street Church, the Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham honorary Bishop and the Reverend Imre Bertalan, members of the Ministerial Qualifying Committee, conducted an examination with the Reverend Attila Szemesi of Allen Park, Michigan. 11. The Bishop on December 1st in the Sanctuary of the Allen Park Church, conducted the ordination services of Pastor Attila Szemesi. 12/a. On December 1st, Sunday afternoon, the Bishop preached the Gospel at the Windsor Church, Canada. 12/b. The Bishop on February 9th has conducted annual congregational meeting of the New York 82nd Street church. 13. On March 2nd, the Bishop attended the annual 1997 meeting of the Eastern Classes at the Perth Amboy, NJ church. 14. The Bishop attended the annual meeting of the Eastern Area of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America on March 22nd at the New Brunswick, NJ church. 15. On April 20th, the Bishop, by invitation, attended the annual conference of the Eastern Classis of the Calvin Synod. 16. At the beginning of April, the Bishop’s office had received a letter inviting Church leaders and others for the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future, to be held from April 27 - 29th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On April 28th, Monday morning the Bishop and Mr. Stephen Szabó Chief Elder had participated in the grand Summit, which was held outside of the famous Independence Hall in the heart of Philadelphia. Presidents William J. Clinton and his wife, George Bush and Gerald Ford were present at that memorable event with Mrs. Nancy Reagan, Vice President Albert Gore Jr. and his wife and many other dignitaries. 17. On May 4th, the Bishop attended with the representatives of the Women’s Guild of his Church the annual Conference of the Eastern Area of the Women’s Association of the Synod at the Staten Island, NY church. 18. On May 20-21, the Bishop attended the annual Conference of the Calvin Synod with Rev. Peter Toth, Carteret, NJ at Ligonier, PA. 19. On May 31st, the Bishop with the Right Reverend Dezső Abraham honorary Bishop and the Right Reverend Stefan M. Torok Ecclesiastical Secretary participated in the annual Conference of the Western Classis at the McKeesport Church, PA. 20. On June 12th, the Ministerial Qualifying Committee convened at the Trenton Church, NJ. Present were: the Right Reverend Dezső Abraham
