MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal Február 23-án, országunk első elnökére, George Washingtonra emlékezőn közebédet rendeztünk. Március 16-án az 1848-as magyar szabadságharcról emlékeztünk meg, amelyen Vass Zsolt szavalt. A lelkipásztor angolul, Vass István magyarul méltatta a 48-as eseményeket. Többen magyar viseletben jelentek meg. Az énekeket Csordás Gáborné kísérte zongorán. Március 28-án, nagypénteken, este angol nyelvű istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással. Március 30-án, húsvétvasárnap délelőtt, ünnepi istentisztelet volt úrvacsoraosztással. Az úrvacsorái jegyeket mindkét alkalomra Bordás Csaba algondnok adományozta. Április 27-én tavaszi ebédet rendeztünk. Május 10- én egyházunk Női Köre sikeres ételvásárt rendezett egy városkörnyéki áruház előtt. Május 11-én az istentisztelet keretében, a lelkipásztor Timothy Arndt és felesége (Lakatos Judith egyháztag) fiúgyermekét az Eric Michael nevekkel a szent keresztség sákramentumában részesítette. Május 18-án pünkösdi istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással. Az úrvacsorái kenyeret és bort Rendes István ellenőr és neje adományozták. ROSETON, NEW YORK Április 6-án istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással. Az úrvacsorái jegyeket Széli Fred gondnokpénztáros adományozta. Április 26-án virradóra,, 92 éves korában, elhúnyt Bányácski István ellenőr. Április 29-én egy Marlboro községi halottasházból temettük el nagy részvétellel. A feltámadás Ura vigasztalja szeretteit! The following officers of the Board of Elders were installed: President - Linda Hauck; Vice President - Jeffrey Nemeth; Treasurer - Helen Cutler; Secretary - Eleanor Szász. The women have planned a busy calendar of events for this year. They held a successful Chinese Auction in March and hope to do the same at the Strawberry Festival on June 6, 1997. Their calendar also includes an annual picnic in August, annual Bazaar in September, Christmas Chinese Auction in November and kolbasz-making in December. As already mentioned in this issue, the 38th Annual Church Women United Conference took place on May 4th, and it was well attended. Following the conference, Linda Hauck, Chief Elder, invited everyone to join the congregation outside the church Linda Hauck, Chief Elder with her mother to dedicate two newly-installed flagpoles. Linda commented this was the first time a Hungarian flag had flown together with an American flag in front of their beloved church since 1915 when Hungarians first began holding worship services in the church building. A responsive reading was led by their pastor, August Molnár. Bishop Alexander Forro offered the dedicatory prayer and led the group in the singing of “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” and the Hungarian Anthem. Following the ceremony, Linda thanked the members of the conference for joining the Staten Island congregation in the celebration of the flagpole dedication. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship they shared, the joy of seeing old friends again and of meeting new ones. Dedication of the American and Hungarian flags
