MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13. oldal FOR 130 YEARS IN THE INTEREST OF DISEASED CHILDREN. The Bethesda Children’s Hospital of the Reformed Church is located in Budapest. It operates with 197 beds, 8 000 bedfast and 90 000 outpatients as a yearly average, as Dr. Tamas Dizseri, general director put it. In the hospital a high-level healing activity is carried on. In 1997 they launch their home care service. Adjunct Dr. Andrea Bekesi’s team consisting of four specialists and nineteen nurses performs a heroic, devoted activity for the sake of children suffering of cancer. It is a speciality of the department that usually the mothers can stay with their children in the ward during the cure. The department resembles much rather a kindergarten than a hospital. This way they also wish to make it be forgotten that this department is the scene of daily tragedies. The secret of Bethesda’s good reputation is formulated by the general director as follows: “Well-trained staff, safe technical conditions, understanding spirit with a deep empathy, and in the background of all this: Christ-like commitment”. They maintain good relations with several hospitals and institutes in the Netherlands, Germany and the USA. Outstanding is the support of the Dutch Friesepoort Foundation that assures a wide-scale professional further training for 50 staff members of the hospital. Reformed Church is indeed fortunate in that each Sunday, our congregation celebrates a rebirth of our church. It is exciting to see our regular members welcome our visitors and potential new members with courtesy, and true love as they enter our church and worship with us. We are especially happy when we see our very young children and grandchildren, who have very little knowledge of our Hungarian language feel comfortable as we worship in the English and Hungarian languages. We are especially proud of our two lovely young ladies who are in our confirmation class and feel that our Hungarian Reformed Church is one that wants them to be one with us. We welcome our regular worshippers and potential new members and hope that they will feel that we are one with them in providing an atmosphere of Christian love and friendship. We are indeed fortunate that all of our members and guests regularly take Communion and our children are blessed at the Lord’s Table. Throughout the years our members are very supportive of our church by regular donations, special donations, paying of church dues and supporting our bazaars, bake sales, dinners and our annual summer picnic. Their support is not only in
