Burbridge Associate Pastor: Gabor Lassú 9901 Allen Road, Allen Park, Michigan 48101 Telephone: (313) 382-1001 Chief Elder: Robert Bone The service of the Rev. J. Keith Roberson, as interim senior pastor came to an end last November with special recognition service in the church and fellowship in the church center. The Rev. Thomas Burbridge was elected to be our senior pastor who started to serve our church November 1994. The Rev. Gabor Lassú, his wife and two children arrived from Dunabogdány, Hungary and they live in the parsonage next to the church. Both pastors find the responsibilities challenging and fulfilling working in unity and peace. The annual congregational meeting reelected most of the church council members: the officers are Robert Bone chief elder, George Kasza, Zsigmond Faragó, Remo Mei and William Sarkett vice president, Ethel S. Vigh treasurer, Zoltán Ambrus secretary. The organizations gave their annual report, and the members received them very well: Sunday School, Youth Fellowships, Ladies’ Aid, Women’s Guild, Men’s Club, Martha Circle, Busy Bees, Hungarian Heritage Preservation Club, Good Samaritans, Nursing Home Ministry, three choirs, English, Hungarian and Handbell, Hungarian Classes, Hungarian Folk Dancers groups, Golden Circle..., etc, etc. Last year almost fifty new members were received into the fellowship of the church. Statistics: 16 children were baptized, 3 couples united in holy matrimony, 26 members died. BETHLEHEM, PENNSYLVANIA Pastor: Ronald R. Hari North and High Streets, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18018 Telephone: (610) 838-8203 Chief Elder: Balint Balogh Telephone: (610) 439-0022 The fiercest winter in many years brought many problems with it, especially to our Kálvin Hall. Leaking roof, plumbing problems, and no more bingo has necessitated placing the property on the real estate listings. Considering the weather and limited parking facilities, our winter church attendance was still very good. We started the year with our annual Congregational meeting. In February, we also made doughnuts, (well over 200 dozen!) for Shrove Tuesday. The Morning Call even gave us excellent press coverage, with Mrs. Fabian and Goldie Arnold being featured in both an article and photo on the front page of the local news. I might add that our press coverage has also been quite good in the “Bethlehem Bulletin”. The “Kitchen Crew” continued their Tuesday morning noodle making sessions and added a Nut and Poppy Seed Roll Sale for the Easter Season. I was in Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey the end of September, into October. The Rev. Dr. Frank Flisser officiated at the Service while I was visiting and touring. I am grateful to him for filling in and for conducting the Service in Hungarian, which I know many of you enjoyed. While in Romania, I visited the Bishop’s Church in Kolosvar, meeting with some of their Elders following the Service. The service was impressive - over 200 worshipers, seven hymns (all verses) and every one bringing their own Hymnal. Their devotion to God and their church was quite moving. I look forward to sharing the video tape of this experience. Special thanks to Mr. Balogh; our chief elder, Mr. Csizma; our vice elder, Mr. Turoczy; our organist, and all of the other elders for their guidance in our parish. Without their wisdom in the decision making process, we would be lost. And also all the members and friends of this church, who make possible our ministry Together. PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY Pastor: István Torok, Dean 331 Kirkland Place, Perth Amboy, New Jersey 08861 Telephone: (908) 442-4799 By the grace of God we have reached the New Year. We as a congregation express our thanks to Him for being with us and offering us the opportunity of worship, and the building of His Kingdom.
