2. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ a megkínzottaknak gyógyulást, a gyászo/ lóknak vigasztalást. (Ezsaiás 61, Lukács 4.) Nem erre várnak a népek milliói: éhezők és hajléktalanok, fajgyűlölet börtöneinek foglyai, tudatlanság vakságában tévelygők kivetettjei, gyógyulást váró sebesültek, megkínzott szívüek reménységük megújulását? Jézus ezeknek hirdette Isten békességét, Isten szeretetét. Ez a békességszolgálat mint Jézus tanítványaira ránk is vonatkozik. Hogy az újszülött templomi felajánlásában használt simeoni igét használjuk, mindez a mi rendeltetésünk is. És amint majdan Jézus utolsó parancsa szerint a tanítványi küldetés minden néphez szól, úgy szól a mi rendeltetésünk is. Isten békesség szolgálata tehát a világ minden népének, nemcsak amerikai magyarságunk rendeltetése. Ez a rendeltetés—és ne féljünk az új fogalmazástól—egy erkölcsi világközösség szolgálatában való részvétel. Amerikai magyar református közösségünk mit tehet ebben a világra szóló szolgálatban? Nem tehetünk meg mindenütt, mindent. De tehetünk valahol, valamit. Ne szűnjünk meg megkeresni, megtalálni, betölteni rendeltetésünket. Legyen ez idei karácsonyi ünneplésünk kezdete. Krisztus békessége maradjon veletek. Isn't this millions of suffering people of the world are hoping for? The hungry, the homeless, the prisoners of ethnic hatred, the outcasts of blind ignorance, the wounded of the body waiting for healing, the bruised souls waiting for rernewal of their hope? To these was Jesus promising the peace of God, the love of God. Being the disciples of Jesus the service of this peace is our mission too. To use the Word used by Simeon when presenting the newborn Jesus in the temple: we too are destined to this service. And according to the last command of Jesus the mission of discipleship is to all people so it is our destined mission. Saying that the service of God’s peace is set for all people of the world means—and let us not be afraid of the new concept—to work for a moral world cormmunity. What can our American Hungrian community do, how can it take part in the work for this moral world community? We cannot be everywhere doing everything. Yet we can be at some places, doing some things. We must therefore not stop searching for, finding and fulfilling the mission of our destined service. Let this be the beginning of the celebration of this year's Christmas. The Peace of Christ be with you at all times.
