MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal POUGHKEEPSIE, NY Lelkipásztor: Forró Sándor esperes 9 Grove Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 Telefon: (914) 454-256 és 454-5735 Március 21-én, vasárnap, az 1848-as Magyar Szabadságharc emlékére közebédet rendeztünk, amelyen a lelkipásztor ünnepi beszédben emlékezett meg a Szabadságharc hőseiről. Március 27-én egyházunk női köre ételvásárt rendezett egy városkörnyéki üzletben. Április 9-én nagypénteket, 11-én pedig husvétot ünnepeltünk. Az utóbbi alkalmon úrvacsoraosztás volt, amelyre a kenyeret és bort Bordás Csaba algondnok adományozta. Az úrvacsoraosztási adományok összege 845,00 dollár volt. Április 23-án elhunyt Szűcs Jánosné egyháztag 84 éves korában. Április 23-án temettük el templomunkból nagy részvéttel. Az örök élet ura vigasztalja meg szeretteit! Május 9-én anyák napi ebédet és utána műsort rendeztünk, amelyen Ferenczy Lidia, if], Orbán Zoltán és Vass Zsolt szavalatokkal köszöntötték fel az édesanyákat és Vass István ünnepi beszédet mondott. A megjelentek énekét Csordás Gáborné kísérte zongorán. A poughkeepsiei magyar református egyházközség az idén, június 27-én ünnepelte meg fennállása és templom-szentelése 60-ik évfordulóját. Vasárnap délután 4 órakor hálaadó istentiszteletet tartottunk a templomunkban, amelyen dr. Harsányi András püspök angolul és Ábrahám Dezső tb. püspök magyarul hirdette Isten igéjét. Este 6 órakor bankett és vacsora volt a gyülekezeti teremben, amelynek fő szónoka Szabó István egyházkerületi főgondnok volt. Egyházunk idei, nyári piknikjét augusztus 8-án, vasárnap délután rendezi meg a templomkertben, ahol sátrakat fogunk felállítani. Magyar ételekről és frissítőkről gondoskodunk. A tánczene délután 3 órakor kezdődik. A közkedvelt Szabadkai Duó zenészpár fog közreműködni. ROSETON, NY Április 4-én húsvéti istentiszteletet tartottunk úrvacsoraosztással, amelyre az úrvacsorái jegyeket Mrs. Charlotte Colombo adományozta. PERTH AMBOY, NEW JERSEY The lazy, hazy summer days are coming to end and we look forward to the renewal of our church life in the coming September. The summer, however, was not without activities in our church life. On the first Sunday of May, twenty of our ladies attended the Annual Church Women United Conference in Carteret, NJ. On the second Sunday of May, we celebrated Mother’s Day with a special combined worship service and holy communion. At the close of the service a presentation was made in the form of flowers to all adult women of the congregation. To continue our celebration, a Mother’s Day breakfast was served in the church center by the Christian Youth Fellowship. In the month of June, we worked on the 90th Anniversary Church Directory, prepared by United Church Directories. Participation in the picture taking was excellent. It is our hope that by the time the anniversary date, November 21 rolls around, we will have our church directory in our hands. Our Church picnic was held on June 27. At the beginning of July, we held another successful Vacation Bible School for a week. Average attendance was around 26, even though on some days the number was higher. Special thanks to our teachers, organist, and bus driver. Without them our children would have been poorer in their knowledge of the Lord. Our church, during the summer months, was less attended even though the church is airconditioned, hut it was satisfactory. Looking forward to the renewal of our church life in September, our elders and pastor are planning for their trip to Ligonier to attend the Annual Presbyter’s and ministerial meetings, respectively. Our Sunday School was operating, even during the summer, with a skeleton crew but we hope that from our re-opening day, Rally Day, planned for September 12th, we can resume the education of all our children. Confirmational instructions will start on September 25, and will be held every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. Those, entering instructions, will be notified by mail. Our 90th anniversary celebration is planned for November 12 with a special service of Thanksgiving, beginning at 11:00 a.m., continuing with a catered banquet at 1:00 p.m. Tickets for the occasion will be available on a first come first served basis from August 1st to November 1st.
