MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11. oldal In accordance with our policy, upon motion of Mr. Zambo and Miss Ibolya Balog, all others present at the meeting were accepted as corresponding member. Greetings were expressed to the Assembly by Bishop Dr. Andrew Harsanyi, Dean of the New York Classis, The Rev. Alexander Forro through a letter and by Mr. Steven Szabó, chief elder of the Synod through Mr. Balint Balogh. Special acknowledgment for the invitation by The Rev. Lorant Fukk from Hungary, presently continuing his studies at Princeton Theological Seminary. Minutes from last year’s Classis meeting was acknowledged as prepared and was unanimously accepted with thanks. Delegates of the Eastern Classis The Assembly heard the report of the Dean, which was prepared in printing in both English and Hungarian. The dean’s report was followed by the chief elder’s report. Both reports were placed for further examination to the appointed committees. The meeting continued with the report of the treasurer, Mr. Andrew C. Lovász. Before the appointment of committees, report was given by Mr. Anthony Beke on the American Hungarian Presbyter’s Association Annual Conference, held at Labor Day of last year. He also encouraged elders from the various congregations to attend this year’s meeting in Ligonier. Recess was ordered for the work of the following Committees. Recommendation, Financial and Nominating. The first committee report was the Recommendation Committee’s. All accepted recommendations shall be communicated to the member congregations, in writing. I would like to mention however, that some recommendations are a special action of the Assembly and do not require action from the congregation as a whole. The Assembly accepted the Rev. Tamas Karla on the roll and confirmed him as Pastor of the Trenton, NJ, congregation. The Assembly also accepted the Rev. Ollie Benko-Hall on the roll of the ministers. Ollie was ordained by the Synod on December 20, at Perth Amboy. The Assembly also confirmed the installation of the Rev. Peter Toth in Carteret, NJ. The Nominating Committee recommended to fill the post on the Judicial Commission of the Classis vacated by Mr. Charles Gabos. The Classis accepted the Committee’s nomination and elected Gabriel Csapó for the remainder of the term. The Financial Committee reported that our treasury was handled with great care and also made recommendations toward the disbursement of our funds. All recommendations were unanimously accepted. A memorial service was held remembering the fallen servants from our congregations by the Rev. Peter Toth. We paused in silence paying our respect of honor and asked God’s comforting presence for the lives of their loved ones. Following the announcements of up-coming events in our sister congregations, we accepted the invitation of our sister church in Trenton, NJ., to host next year’s Assembly on March 6, 1994. That year will also mark the 100th anniversary of this congregation. The host church extended special invitations to all those in attendance to share a fellowship dinner, prepared by the members of the Bethlehem congregation. With the Benediction, offered by Dr. Andrew Harsanyi, we said farewell to each other and brought home with ourselves the good fellowship and the strength received from this Assembly, to do our work to the glory of God.
