PERTH AMBOY, NJ It gives always the appearance that just before the summer slowness, the congregational life goes through a great surge. This year was no different. On May 10th Mother’s Day was celebrated in the congregation. The combined service and the planned Mother’s Day breakfast, prepared this year by the men of the congregation, offered a great opportunity to everyone to attend. And we were happy the church was full of worshippers. On this same day the mother and the sister-in-law of the Pastor arrived for a special visit. On May 24th, Memorial Sunday, in the sanctuary and later on in the cemetery special observances were held in commemoration. Even though attendance was low, but the presence of an Honor Guard Squad from the local VFW and the service prepared added greatly to the celebration. On May 31st, during the English Worship Service the Dedication of a new American Flag donated by Mr. and Mrs. Aladar Orosz on the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary and a Christian Flag donated by Mr. and Mrs. Barry Quinn in honor of the parents, the late Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Charles Vincze, former pastor of the congregation. The celebration was uplifted by the presence of the Boys Scout who carried the flag into the sanctuary. Special thanks and appreciation for their presence. On June 7th, the Congregation joined together in worship and Holy Communion celebrating the Birthday of the Christian Church Pentecost. In the afternoon, the long awainted celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Pastor’s, Rev. Török’s Ordination to the Christian ministry took place with a Divine Worship service of Thanksgiving, and a Fellowship Dinner held in the Church Center. Special report on this celebration will appear in another location of this issue of the “Magyar Egyház.” On the last Sunday of the month an event with already has a tradition the Open Air Church Service and Church Picnic was held. The beautiful weather, the good Hungarian and American food brought out our people, and we truly shared our Christian fellowship with each other. On June 29th, Monday, we started our Vacation Bible School. We are happy to report that it was a success. Special thanks and appreciation is expressed to the teachers, helpers, organist and bus driver. Vital Statistics: Funerals: Helen Vig Daróci, April 20th; William Doatch, Sr., May 19th; Elizabeth Tobias Dudich, June 16th. May God comfort their loved ones.
