MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal we also have taken our time to give an account of what we have done, how we served the Head, Master, Lord and King of the Church in the past year. Upon our reflections we have seen much much more we could have done. The accounting over the past year was done in the form of our Annual Congregational Meeting, which was held on the second Sunday of the month, February 9th, following a Combined Divine Worship Service in the Sanctuary. The Meeting was orderly and peaceful. We did not have any major item, that would have created any misunderstanding or disharmony in the congregation. Following the Annual Congregational meeting we extended a cordial welcome to our members for a traditional Hungarian Pig Fest (Roast) held in our Church Center. On the last Sunday of January we welcomed in our church the children of our Christian Education, and our Pastor offered special message. On the first Sunday of February, according to our church traditions we offered the gifts of the Holy Table commemorating the Last Supper of our Lord. On Saturday, February 22nd, the members of the church Council, and their spouses attended a special gathering of Christian Fellowship in a local Hungarian restaurant called “Aranka”. The good Hungarian music and the good fellowship brought them even closer together. We would like to use this opportunity to extend a cordial invitation to the Annual Meeting of the Easetrn Classis of the Hungarian Reformed Church in America, which will be held at the Perth Amboy Magyar Reformed Church on Sunday, March 1st, beginning at 2:30 p.m., registration and 3:00 p.m. Meeting. We give special attention to this meeting in this issue of the Magyar Church. THE NEW AND REVISED COOK BOOK is now available from the Women’s Guild HUNGARIAN REFORMED CHURCH 331 Kirkland Place Perth Amboy, NJ 08861 Price: $4.00 plus Pastage of $1.25 ROEBLING, NJ The Women’s Guid of the church purchased a new doughmaking machine (for $2,500.00). So the Hungarian noodlecsiga making continues in the New Year. Every Monday the ladies get together and enjoy a good Christian fellowship making csiga and other soup noodles. They have orders, which they hardly can fill. The congregational meeting of the church is scheduled for Sunday, February 2nd, and a report will be given in the next issue of our newspaper. The life of the congregation continues peacefully, thanks to Allan Birkholtz, chief elder and his co-workers, who render an excellent service in our small congregation. TRENTON, NJ Our congregation is still without a full time Pastor. Announcements have been on the pages of this publication asking qualified ministers to inquire. Presently the congregation is very happy to have the services of Rev. Stephen Kovács to take care of the Sunday services caring for the spiritual needs of the congregation. We are also happy to have Rev. Kadar Zsolt from Hungary, who presently continues his studies at Princeton Theological Seminary to assist us at the Sunday Worship services. The Congregation’s Annual Meeting was held in January. The meeting was chaired by our Chief-Elder Mr. Jenei and Rev. Kovács. We gave an accounting of our stewardship of the past year. For the New Year the following officers and council members were elected: Chief-Elder Mr. Joseph Jenei, First Vice President Mr. Imre Bogár, 2nd Vice-President Mr. Gabriel Csapó, Treasurer Mrs. Margaret Ture, Assistant Treasurer Mr. Anthony S. Beke, Secretary Mr. John Waldner, Controller Mr. Frank Király, Trustees Mr. Les Martin and Mr. Gary Poedubicky. It is our hope that with the new leadership our church will prosper again in the new year. Our Christian Youth Fellowship sponsored a Lock-In in the month of January. Our speaker for the occasion was Mr. Kenneth Matto from the Perth Amboy congregation who spoke on the subject of “Understanding the New Age.” We were happy to greet young people from the area congregations. From our vital Statistics report: With great sorrow we said farewell to the following church members, who entered into eternal rest: Mr. Lawrence Varga, Mr. Andrew Onda, Mr. John Toth and Mr. John Figaro. May the Almighty God give them a safe lodging and peaceful rest. We look forward to the New Year, serving our Lord, that in all our action we may praise and glorify His Holy Name.
