József Palfi, a theological student from Kolozsvár, dr. Francis Vitéz of Perth Amboy, and our bishop dr. Andrew Harsányi proclaimed tht Gospel of Christ at the Carteret church. For our organist resigned at the beginning of April it was not always easy to fill this service — but, thank to our sister Mrs. László Egry, it has been without a hitch. Our guest organists were Mrs. Noemi Palfi from Transylvania, and Ms. Linda Borbás from New Brunswick. In September our congregation was represented at the Conference of the Presbyters’ Association where our Chief Elder, Mr. Leonard Sendelsky was elected as a lay delegate to the World Council of Hungarian Reformed Churches. There were two other events which are worthy to mention. The first was the Carteret Ethnic Festival where our church was present with the special Hungarian food and love. The other was our Hungarian Night - Mrs. Helen Dodge, the organizer of this project, did a good job. At the beginning of October we had our Annual Banquet to honor our jubilant Chief Elder’s 30th year of service. At this time we celebrated our church together with the ministers of surroundings and with the political leaders. We lost two outstanding sisters recently. One of them was Mrs. Anna Maria Fuller, a faithful teacher of our Sunday School, the other was Mrs. Susan Papp who was past president of our Lorantffy Women’s Guild for several years. The Gospel of Christ is our comfort. The work of the current president Mrs. Pearl Hatten was not hindered even by the fact that we had to pray for her recovery from her two operations during this year — however we have to appreciate the self-sacrificing work of her Vice-President, Mrs. Judy Sendelsky. Our Sunday School’s superintendent, Ms. Susan Prundl leads the education in such a way that in spite of the decrease of the teaching power of the staff — everything can go on. We wait for the 1992nd year of our Lord hoping the recovery of the sick, the replacement of the lost workers, and the continuous reformation of our faith. McKeesport, pa In the fall season our organizations started to work and they are waiting for members to participate in their activities: The Sunday School children are expected to come from kindergarten age to adults.. . Our choir rehearsals resumed on Wednesdays at 7 P.M. please, contact Susie Járdánházy for more information. The Halloween party for our children on November 2nd was a great success: “do I know you?”. ..“who are you?” “...my, what a costume?!” etc. were just a few of the phrases you heard.. . Children, grandchildren, parents and loved ones, everyone had an enjoyable time. “The International Village” of McKeesport on November 14th was so successful, that it was shown on cable TV, Channel 37. Many of our members made video tapes, copies will be available. The Women’s Guild Hungarian noodle making continues on Tuesdays. Please, come and help to maintain this old tradition: 9 A.M. on. The special congregation meeting on November 17th was called to elect the next year’s officers, church council members, etc. The most important issue was “selling our old church property on Seventh Street.” Statistics will be reported in the next issue. PERTH AMBOY, NJ It may be hard to believe, but the calendar will prove it, by God’s grace we have reached the end of another year. As we reflect on the passing year, our hearts are full of gratitude for allowing us as a congregation and as individuals to live and find satisfaction in His grace. This feeling of gratitude was expressed by the Christian Community on the occasion of Thanksgiving, when on Sunday before the actual day of Thanksgiving our sanctuary was filled with worshippers where we praise the Name of the Lord for all his gracious dealing with us. Following the service of Thanksgiving, we gathered around the white tables in our Church Center to share in the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Attendance was truly remarkable. On the first Sunday of December, we stepped into the period of Advent, the time of waiting set aside by the Christian church many centuries ago to prepare oneself for the hirth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ. Our Worship services were very well attended, and according to our church’s tradition the Table of our Lord was set to offer the spiritual fellowship with the Lord. On this Sunday we also began special services of the Advent Wreath, which is a very well accepted part of the celebration. On Dectmber 8th, following the usual services in the sanctuary, our members, families and friends gathered in the
