MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldal Also in July, four of our young people, members of the Sunday School’s “Care Company”, went to Tennessee to work in a Christian day camp for children of Appalachia. Care Company members who participated in Mountain T.O.P. were Karen Doughty, Amy Indre, Faith and Niki King, and their advisor, Ms. Guyala Doughty. The young people returned home truly moved by their week-long experience. At the end of July and beginning of August our annual two week Vacation Bible School took place involving more than 50 young people. V.B.S. again was under the leadership of our Christian Education Director and seminarian, Ms. Anna Souto. In August, some 15 members of our Junior and Senior Christian Youth Fellowships attended the annual youth camp in Pennsylvania. As we look toward the fall, planning has begun for our 50th Anniversary worship service and banquet which are scheduled for November 17th. We are grateful to God for so many activities and so many wonderful people involved in the life of our church. May all the glory be to God, Who cares for His children. PERTH AMBOY, NJ In these summer months, one would think, that church life, in general, takes a vacation, like people do. It is true our Sundays attendance is somewhat lower, than at other times of the year, but the spiritual life of the congregation does not cease. We reflect in this report on some of the events that took place in the last couple of months. At the end of June we finished a successful Summer Vacation Bible School. Many thanks to our teachers and helpers without whom none of these would have been possible. Special thanks to our organist, by whose presence the singing went more joyfully and our bus driver for delivering our children to and from the school. During the month of July our sanctuary was also repainted, in such a way that church services were not interrupted. On July 21st we welcomed Maj. Lee Glaser and his family from Florida visiting family members in our congregation. Maj. Glaser was a staff member of Gen. Schwartzkopf in the Persian Gulf. With his assistance we removed the names from the tree of life placed by the congregation at a special service on February 11, 1991, and joined together in prayer for the service and dedication for our service-men and women. Holy Communion was observed according to our traditions both the first Sunday of July and August. On August 11th, we said farewell to our young people as they left for the Annual Youth Conference. Four young people from our congregation were in attendance. And we look forward to the Annual Presbyters’ Conference and Ministerial Conference held on Labor Day Weekend in Ligonier. It is our hope, that with the passing of the summer, our acitvities and usual church attendance will resume, and we will be able to welcome back our members from their well deserved vacations. Our plans are under way for another successful Sunday School year. Our Rally Day is planned for September 8th, and confirmations instructions to resume also in September. ROEBLING, NJ During the summer heat our “old faithful” air conditioner system broke down, a new one had to be installed. However, the attendance of divine worship services, did not decline, thanks to the faithful members. Sunday School will be resumed in September. Our superintendent is Nancy D’Annuncio. Marriages: March 30th: Peggy Staeck and Allan Gwynn, May 11: Stefan Barna and Frieda Olyniak were united in holy matrimony. God bless the young couples. The pastor, Rev. Edwin Stern was one of the speakers at the youth camp in Mount Pleasant, Pa. Aug. 11-18. The Bethlen Almanac is still available: nice picture of our church is included. TRENTON, NJ Our Pastor, the Rev. Kálmán Adorján, has had a heartattack while vacationing in Youngstown, Ohio. He informed the church in February of his plan to retire effective September 31st, 1991. The church members are praying for his speedy recovery. The pulpit committee under the leadership of Anthony C. Beke, has held frequent meetings in order to fill the vacancy of our Trenton, N.J. church. Anyone interested to be the pastor: should contact the dean’s office or the chairman of the pulpit committee. During the vacation of our pastor, the Rev. Dr. D. Abraham, bishop emeritus and the Rev. Stephen Kovács, pastor emeritus has supplied the divine worship services. Mr. and Mrs. Enders, nee Ivan Piroska, hosted the annual outing of the Lorántffy Ladies Aid on their beautiful ground where everyone had an enjoyable afternoon. Thanks and appreciation.
