retet gondozott, s amiért mindenkinek meg kell becsülni saját magát. A kábítószer használat megszakítja az Istennel s emberrel (szülővel) tartott bizalmat és szeretetet. Meggondolkoztatott mindenkit a kábítószerek következményéről s megígértette, hogy ifjaink nem részesülnek annak használatába.

Szerdán Nt. Nyerges Vilmos és neje elbeszélték házasságuk praktikus oldalát, szerelmüknek kibontakozását a közös életben. Majd előadásuk végén újból hűséget vallottak egymásnak házasságuk 25-ik évfordulója alkalmán előttem.

Csütörtökön Nt. Coralyn Medyesy rendezte a programot. Csoportokra osztotta az ifjakat, megfontoltatta velük az emberi élet fizikai, elmei és lelki fejlődését bölcsőtől a sírig. A megszületett dolgozatokat versbe szedette, melyeket az esti áhítaton felolvasak.

Pénteken Nt. Dr. Bütösi János tartott előadást. Összefoglalta a heti témákat a keresztyén hivatásnak szempontjából, hogy mint egy hadsereget, minket tanúbizonyságra hívott az Űr. Hitbéli cselekvéssel ismertetjük e világgal Istennek hatalmas üdvösségét Jézus Krisztusban.

Az Ifjúsági Tábor sikere kimutatkozik az évente visszatérő ifjakban, különösen a segéd-felügyelőkben, akik szoros baráti közösségben vannak egymással. Öröm látni fejlődésüket, hogy mikor már vezetőképesek, megváltozik bennük az előjog s kiváltság kívánat a felelősségtudatra s cselekvésük, beszédük számontartására. Némelyik egyházi rendezvényen összefutunk, a tábori élményeket átélve vágyunk a következő találkozóra. Megszületett szívükben a keresztyén közösségi szeretet és érték. Biztos rájuk gondolt a Zsoltáríró: „íme mily jó és mily gyönyörűséges, amikor együtt lakoznak az atyafiak... Csak oda küld áldást az Űr és életet örökké.” (Zs. 133:1-3.) Áldja és éltesse ifjainkat az Űr, s támasszon fel bennük erős hitet, hogy egyházának szilárd oszlopai legyenek. Mi pedig, kedves testvéreim, járuljunk ifjaink hitbéli fejlődéséhez lelki és anyagi segítséggel, hogy Istennek áldása rajtunk, gyermekeinken s unokáinkon maradjon mindörökké.

COMMISSION ON THE BICENTENNIAL OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

August 24, 1989

Dear Religious Leader:

Two hundred years ago next month the Congress of the United States drafted 12 Amendments to the Constitution and sent them to the states for their ratification. As you are well aware the first Amendment added to the Constitution provided our guarantee for freedom of religious expression. Certainly America has been blessed because our forefathers had the right priorities.

Within 30 days we, as a nation, will once again celebrate “Citizenship Day,” the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution on September 17. This year, especially, we encourage your thoughtful participation because of the introduction of the Bill of Rights and the Bicentennial of the first Presidential Proclamation which called for a national day of Thanksgiving for the Constitution.

We invite you to lead your people, your organization,

and those you represent in honoring the Constitution with appropriate observances, messages, sermons, and homilies. Enclosed is a copy of President Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation.

of the United States of America A PROCLAMATION.

Whereas it is the Duty of all Nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his Benefits, and humbly to implore his Protection and Favor: And whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint Committee, requested me “To recommend to the People of the United States, a Day of public Thanksgiving and Prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful Hearts the many signal Favors of Almighty GOD, especially by affording them an Opportunity peaceably to establish a Form of Government for their Safety and Happiness.”

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign Thursday the Twenty-sixth Day of November next, to be devoted by the People of these States, to the Service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be: That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble Thanks for his kind Care and Protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation; — for the signal and manifold Mercies, and the favorable Interpositions of his Providence in the Course and Conclusion of the late War — for the great Degree of Tranquility; Union and Plenty, which we have since enjoyed; — for the peaceable and national Manner in which we have been enabled to establish Constitutions of Government for our Safety and Happiness, and párticularly the national one now lately instituted; — for the civil and religious Liberty with which we are blessed, and the Means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful Knowledge; — and in general, for all the great and various Favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.

AND ALSO, That we may then unite in most humbly offering our Prayers and Supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech him to pardon our national and other Transgressions; — to enable us all, whether in public or private Stations, to perform our several and relative Duties properly and punctually; — to render our national Government a Blessing to all the People by constantly being a Government of wise, just and constitutional Laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; — to protect and guide all sovereigns and Nations, (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good Government, Peace and Concord; — to promote the Knowledge and Practice of true Religion and Virtue, and the Increase of Science among them and us; — and generally, to grant unto all Mankind such a Degree of temporal Prosperity as he alone knows to be blest.
