MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 15. oldat Sunday the Grace Lutheran Church used our Church Center for their 85th Anniversary. In the month of June our activities continued. Form our vital statistics: Marriages: May 14th Shari Peters and Robert Wiedecker were united; on May 21st Joyce Banyacski and Thomas Colgan were united; on June 4th Carrie Magyar and Brian McCann were united. Anniversaries: Mr. & Mrs. Frank Boka, and Mr. & Mrs. John Both were celebrating their 50th Anniversaries. Congratulations and best wishes for many more years to come. Our plans are under way for another successful Vacation Bible School which will begin on July 5th and will last for two weeks. We appeal to our members, mothers and fathers to see to it, that their children attend. TRENTON, NJ On Sunday, March 20th, during the English service Mr. & Mrs. John S. Toth once again stood before the Lord’s Table and on this occasion they expressed their thanks to God for each other on their 60th Wedding Anniversary and asked God to continue His blessings upon them. Mr. John S. Toth was a Chief Elder of our church and at the present is an Honorary Elder. Mrs. Toth is a member of the Women’s Guild and even today is helping the church. Also, on Sunday, March 20th, the members of our Youth Fellowship, with the advisors attended the Eastern Classis Youth Conference in Carteret, NJ. God blessed our celebration of Easter. During both services the church was filled with the faithful. The church was decorated as in the past years with flowers donated by the Women’s Guild. On Sunday, April 10th, we held Youth Sunday in our church. That is that the members of our Youth Fellowship took over the English service from Scripture Reading to giving the sermon. The participants were: Michael Holbrook, John Molnár, Douglas Myslinski, Erik Beke and Mark Csapó. On Sunday, May 1st, during the English service renewed their wedding vows Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Parrey on their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Both Mr. & Mrs. Parrey are members of the Church Council. We ask God’s continued blessing upon them. Also on Sunday, May 1st, the Ladies of our church attended the 29th Annual Women’s Conference in Perth Amboy, NJ. On Sunday, May 15th, during the English service the following six young people were confirmed and they will come to the Lord’s Table for the first time on Pentecost: Jennifer Bechtel, Michelle Fennimore, Jennifer Katona, Walter P. Katona, Daniel Molnár and Peter Quinn. The good Lord should give them strength that they should keep their promises and remain true to the Lord Jesus Christ. Also, on Sunday, May 15th, we asked the continued blessing upon Mr. & Mrs. John Kisty as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We ask God’s blessing upon them here, too. BAPTISM: On Sunday, May 1st, during the English service we baptized Krista Leigh, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Julius Gyula Oroszvary. The blessing of God be with our young sister. 'FUNERALS: We buried on April 6: Mrs. Eleanor Szekeres, on April 15th: Mrs. Magdolna Toth and on April 30th: Mrs. Elizabeth Kovács. The comforting power of God be with the sorrowing families. YOUNGSTOWN, OH Once again the men of our church made kolbász for sale at Easter. This is always a very successful event. The men of the church, under the direction of Mr. Joe Switka do a superb job of making excellent kolbász at reasonable prices. Church Council meeting was held on Thursday evening, March 10. On March 20 we held our annual Chicken Paprikash Dinner. It is one of our most popular outstanding dinners of the year. Over 140 people were served and most of them can hardly wait until its time for the next one again. Among our distinguished guests were Mayor Vargo of Campbell, Ohio along with his wife and sisters. They also attended our morning worship services. Our Lenten services were well attended. There is always room for more but we are thankful for all who worshipped with us. Easter Lilies and many other floral arrangements beautified the sanctuary for the season. Palms were given out on Palm Sunday. Communion was served during Maundy Thursday evening services. Good Friday services were also held the evening of April 1. Easter Sunday services with communion were also well attended. On Monday, April 11 Reverend Fuleki and several of our Elders drove to New Jersey to visit Bishop Harsanyi. They were warmly welcomed and received by Bishop Harsanyi and his wife into their home. They had a pleasant and very worthwhile visit. Reverend Fuleki and our Elders sincerely appreciated the outstanding Hungarian hospitality that was graciously bestowed upon them by Bishop Harsanyi and his lovely wife. We held our Third Annual Hungarian Art Show on Sunday, April 24. It was directed by the well known Mrs. Margaret Tohati of Cleveland, Ohio who had many fine oil paintings on display along with Hungarian needlework, art pieces and clothing for sale. Reverend Fuleki cooked original Hungarian Goulash as refreshment. It was well attended and proved to be another profitable venture. Mrs. Tohati also donated a large oil painting that was raffled off. Tickets were one dollar each. Our Sunday School children delighted us with their usual heartwarming special Mother’s Day program during our morning worship service on May 8th. Pink carnations were given to each mother immediately following church services. Our annual Mother’s Day dinner was held at noon. Fried Chicken was on the menu along with rice piláf, vegetable, 3 different desserts, salad, beverage, rolls and butter. Over 122 were served and a good time was enjoyed by all. This is a fine tribute to our many faithful members who are also very excellent cooks. They have built up a very fine reputation for themselves and soon our basement hall will not be large enough to hold all the people who enjoy coming to our dinners. First Communion services will be held on Sunday, May 15. Communion services for Pentecost will be held on May 22. We ask God’s special blessings be upon all who serve His and their fellow man to the glory of God now and forever. From our church to your church, God bless you.
