MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13. oldal noon Memorial Service and Tombstone Dedication was held in our Calvary Cemetery. June 9th will mark a trip by the congregation to see the show “Evita” at Papermill Playhouse and preparations are underway for participation at the Internation Festival in our city. Our Vacation Bible School will be held from July 15th in our church center. Vital Statistics: Weddings: Alan Metzger and Lisa Kopko on May 18, Csaba Szucs and Kathreen Jenkins on June 1st were united in marriage. Baptism: June 2nd, we received into church membership Les Alan Ostro, son of Mr. and Mrs. László Ostro. Beside the usual ministerial services within the congregation our pastor served a wedding and a funeral in Roebling, NJ. ROEBLING, NJ Since the departure of Rev. Lisa Von Pier in September 1984, Rev. James Galuhn, a graduate of Princeton Seminary, currently residing in Trenton, NJ, has been serving the pastoral needs of our congregation. Although this is not expected to be a long-term commitment, Rev. Galuhn has provided the spiritual guidance and continuity needed to keep our congregation functioning as it should. During the Annual Congregational Meeting held in January, the following Officers were elected: Chief Elder — Alan Birkholz; Vice Chief Elder — Elmer Soltész; Secretary — Georgiana Harkel; Treasurer — Helen Nagy. We were pleased to welcome four new Elders: Bertalan P. Bartha, Helen Nagy, Frank Keszner, and Christian Varga. Mr. Joseph Bartha resigned his office of Treasurer after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He was our church’s recipient of an award at the community’s annual Citizens Award Dinner and was also honored at our Elder’s Dinner on March 17 and presented with an engraved clock. Our Chief Elder, Alan Birkholz, and his wife Julia, have been attending to the administrative needs of the church in the absence of a full-time pastor and doing an excellent job — we thank them very much for all that they do. The Women’s Guild held their annual cover dish dinner and election of officers as follows: President — Helen Nagy; Vice-President — Julia Birkholz; Secretary — Georgiana Harkel; Treasurer — Helen Bordash; Sunshine Chairlady — Betty Genasky; Merchandise Club/Refreshments Chairlady — Theresa Csogi. With the coming of better weather, church attendance picked up, and our Lenten and Eastertide services were well attended. Rev. Galuhn’s messages were especially inspiring. Mother’s Day was observed with appropriate hymns and a poem by Megan Scott. Each mother was presented with a carnation, a gift from the Church Council. In lieu of the customary Mother’s Day dinner, a special “Family Day” Cover Dish Luncheon will be held on June 2 so that we can observe Mother’s Day, Children’s Day and Father’s Day together. It is with great sadness that the death of Andrew Csany, Jr. on May 4 was observed. Dean Stefan Torok officiated at the funeral and burial services. Kimberly Ann Trainor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Trainor, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Egyud, was married to Daniel Patrick Gigantino in our church on May 11, Dean Torok performing the ceremony. On May 11, also, a son, Zachary Darryl, was born to Linda and Darryl Soltész, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Soltész. Mrs. Theresa Csogi is the very proud Great-Grandmother. Several of our children are looking forward to attending the Summer Youth Camp in August. We wish everyone a safe, relaxing summer — may it be a time for spiritual renewal and new insights into our responsibilities as Christians! A Férfi Kör és a Családi Kör is odaadó munkát végez, az utóbbi most választott új tisztikart, neveiket az angol részben tettük közzé. A vasárnapi iskola, énekkarok és a magyar iskola a nyári időben szünetel. Szülők hozzák el gyermekeiket a templomba, akár az angol, akár a magyar istentiszteletre. A nyugati egyházmegye gyűlése a mi egyházunk vendéglátásában, május 18-án volt. Erről a lap más helyén bővebb beszámoló lesz. A Szent Földi zarándoklat március 18 és 29 között szép sikerrel zárult. A résztvevő 25 férfi és nő számára örökké emlékezetes marad az út, melyről a lapban, ha lesz rá hely, bővebb beszámolót fogunk közzé tenni. Megérkezett az új világba Nt. Hunter Lajos, a kolozsvári teológián végzett, Erdély északi részében élt testvérünk, május hó közepén. Egy holland keresztyén református egyház vette őt pártfogásába, tanul és készül a szolgálati lehetőségekre, hogy a megüresedett lelkészi állások egyikét rövidesen betölthesse. Nagy Péter 70 éves, Nyiri Sándor 70 éves. Emléküket áldjuk. Születés és esketés az angol részben. MIAMI, FL Miami-i gyülekezetünk ezekben a nyári hónapokban a csendes békés együttélés napjait éli. Akkor, amikor télen az északi partokról többen vakációznak erre felé a gyülekezetben többen megfordulnak. Ilyenkor azonban a nyári melegben csak a gyülekezethez tartozó idős magyarjaink látogatják az Istentiszteletet és a hétközi összejöveteleinket. Szomorú szívvel tudatjuk olvasóinkkal, hogy az Ür hosszú földi életútja után hazahívta Nt. Péter Antalné nőtestvérünket, aki a tiszteletben és becsületben áldott alapító lelkészünk özvegye volt. Temetése a gyülekezet nagy részvéte mellett volt.
