MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 5. oldal László Pásztor to Address Hungarian Free­dom Fighters Observance in Chicago on October Twenty-first WASHINGTON — László Pásztor, Chairman of the Vol­unteer Program of the Ethnic Voters Division of Reagan- Bush ’84, and Founder of the National Republican Heritage Groups Council, will arrive in Chicago on Sunday, October 21st, to address the National Federation of American Hun­garians’ observance marking the 28th Anniversary of the Hungarian “fight for freedom” uprising in 1956. The Com­memorative program will be held at the St. Stephen Hun­garian Church’s Cardinal Mindszenty Hall, 2025 West Augusta Blvd., Chicago at 11:30 a.m. Mr. Pásztor will be the main speaker. A message from President Reagan will be read during the program by Mr. John Jurasits, Chairman of the event. Mr. Pásztor is a former Hungarian freedom fighter who was incarcerated in Communist prisons and labor camps for more than 6ii years. He came to the United States in 1956, following the uprising, settling in Pittsburgh, PA. He is one of the founders of the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federa­tion and the Coordinating Committee of Hungarian Organiza­tions in North America. Mr. Pásztor has served as Secretary General of the Hungarian Freedom Fighters Federation, Chair­man of the Coordinating Committee of Hungarian Organiza­tions, and serves as Chairman of the Executive Board of the American Hungarian Federation. Mr. Pásztor is the Manager of Government Relations for an architectural engineering construction company in Washing­ton, D.C. He spends his evenings as a volunteer for Reagan- Bush ’84 Ethnic Voters Division overseeing the Volunteer Program, mobilizing ethnic groups, including Hungarian Amer­icans to support the reelection of the President. Mr. Pásztor is a strong advocate of human rights and self­­determination for all nations and peoples. He devotes count­less hours working with Hungarian American organizations, the National Republican Heritage Groups Council of which he is Honorary Chairman, and with anti-Communist groups. While in Chicago, Mr. Pásztor will meet with leaders of the Reagan-Bush ’84 local and state ethnic communities, and with Hungarian Americans to discuss the final weeks of the campaign. THIRTY-SECOND CONVENTION OF THE HUNGARIAN REFORMED FEDERATION OF AMERICA The Thirty-second Convention of the Hungarian Reformed Federation of America was held between September 17 and 21 at Lord Ligonier Inn in Ligonier. PA. Delegates from 13 states in total of 71 gathered together to charter the course for the coming four years and elect new national officers to lead the Federation. The meeting opened with a Special Divine Worship Service in the Chapel of the Bethlen Home. Participating in the services were the following: Rev. Imre Bertalan. President of the Federation, Rev. Paul Kovács, Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham, Bishop of the Hun­garian Reformed Church in America. Rt. Rev. Dr. John Bu­­tosi, Bishop of the Calvin Synod, United Church of Christ. Rev. István Csutoros, representing the Hungarian Presbyterian Churches. Rev. Kalman Adorján, and Rev. Zoltán Kovács, hoard members of the Bethlen Home. Following the service the Plenary session of the Conven­tion was opened. During the week long meeting, appointed committees evaluated the reports of the National Officers, and made recommendations lor the future. The Convention expressed thanks and appreciation for a job well done to both the national officers and hoard of directors, and released them from their responsibilities for the years 1980-1983. Greetings were expressed by former National President Rev. Arpad George, Executive Vice-President Mr. László E- szenyi, and former National Secretary and Superintendent of the Bethlen Home, the Rev. Joseph Kecskemethy. On the last day of the Convention the election of the new National Officers and Board members took place. Rev. Imre Bertalan was re-elected by acclamation to lead the Federa­tion in the next four years. Vice-President - Secretary Mr. Elmer Vargo was also re-elected by majority vote, Mr. Wil­liam Puskas, Sr. was elected to serve as Treasurer, in the place of the retiring Treasurer Mr. Joseph Molnár. To serve as Vice-Presidents on the Board of Directors the following were elected: Mrs. Susan Virgulák from South Norwalk, CT, Rt. Rev. Dezső Abraham from Allen Park. MI and Mr. George Dózsa from New Brunswick, NJ. Directors from the various District are as fallows: Con­necticut and New York: Rev. Gabor Csordás; Michigan dist­ricts: Ms. Louise Veszprémi; Midwest: Mr. Ed Szabó and Mr. Joseph Benedek; New Jersey: Mr. Joseph Tegze and Miss Priscilla Hunyady; Western PA: Mr. Endre Csornán and Rev. Nicholas Novak; Mid-Western: Mr. Tibor Dolinsky. In the hope that the new leadership will be able to work together in bringing the Federation to greater hights, the Of­ficers and directors were installed, and the meeting was closed by the President Rev. Imre Bertalan and the National Anthem and Magyar Himnusz were sang. SMT
