10. oldal MAGYAR EGYHÁZ — NEWS FROM OUR CONGREGATIONS — ALLEN PARK, Ml The Golden Circle Club and Dorcas Guild sponsored the “Fourth Annual Budapest-Paprikas Sunday on May 27th. which according to main was the best one thus far. Bill Sarkett and Helen Herman presidents were co-chairpersons. Jesse and Barbara Pasternak took care of the reservations. Thanks to all, who helped. The Dorcas Guild members honored the graduates from High Schools and colleges on Sunday, June 10th. Special gifts were presented to the boys and girls. The Men's Club and Golden Circle Club members are active raising funds to help defray the cost of our annual picnic. July 8th in Champaign Park. The Martha Circle members honored all fathers on Sun­day, June 17th with flower tributes. The Sunday School children also honored “fathers” and presented every father, who attended Sunday School with a “potted plant” on June 17th. A timely reminder: on Labor Day in Ligonier, Pa., the Annual Prebyters Conference will he held: September 1-2. 3: advance reservations are necessary. We shall go by bus if sufficient number of members will sign up. Mission Sunday, June 3rd: our members and organiza­tions gave generous donations to our newest church in Phoe­nix, Arizona. Rev. Andor Demeter was the guest minister, who was well received by everyone. The total amount exceeded one thousand dollars. Statistics: baptism: Derek Stephen Danko, son of Ste­phen G. Danko and Donna M. Zouryas; James Vincent Bel­­otti, son of Vincent P. Belotti and Judith M. Toth. Marriages: John S. Pitel and Debra D. Riddle, April 14th, Raymond R. Wood and Eva M. Csereklye, May 5th. David Gudanowsky and Gloria A. Ziemhiec, May 25th, Brian T. Melanoti and Christine C. Turoezy, June 9th. BETHLEHEM, PA At Pentecost 24 members received holy communion. The Holy elements were donated by Mr. and Mrs. James Kovary, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Biro and Mrs. Sophia Herczeg. Holy communion service will be held for New Bread on July 29th. The Holy Elements will he donated bv Rev. and Mrs. Louis J. Nagy. On Mothers Day our consistory presented a pot of gera­nium to every mother of our congregation. On Father's Day after the church service we had a suc­cessful Father’s Day Picnic. Thanks to Mrs. John Fabian the president of the Ladies Aid for organizing the picnic. Thanks to the ladies for all their help. The Ladies Aid pres­ented a small gift to each father of our congregation. On May 27th Rev. Nagy was the guest speaker at the celebration of The Rev. Bertalan Negyessy’s 25th anniversary in Ontario, California. It was inspiring to see and meet with all those people who 25 years ago organized this church. On May 27th our chief elder Mr. Balint Balogh was substituting for the pastor. Many thanks for his services. Mr. and Mrs. James Kovary are going to Hungary to visit their relatives. May God he with them on their journey. The ministers of New Jersey held their meeting at the parsonage and enjoyed the hospitality of Mrs. Nagy on June 11th. Rev. Nagy and his wife attended the meeting of the East­­earn Ministerial Association in New York City on June 18th. Rev. Nagy's son-in-law. Mr. Marvin Smoyer died at the age of 39. He had cancer. His wife and four children and all his relatives are mourning. May God give consolation and strength to the family. The Very Rev. Stefan Torok, dean of our Classis sent out the invitations for the Farewell Celebration of Rev. Nagy who after 50 years of ministerial service will retire on Sep­tember 30, 1984, to New Port Richey, Florida. The worship service will he held at 4:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary (North and High Streets) in Bethlehem, Pa. followed by a Farewell Banquet at the Holiday Inn East on Route 22 at Center Street Exit at 6:00 p.m. For more in­formation, please contact the Dean’s office in Perth Amboy, N.J. CARTERET, NJ Together with all the other churches in Carteret, under the auspicies of the local Ministerial Association we partici­pated in a 10 km CROP Walk, for World Hunger. Churches in town raised almost $10,000. 25% of which will he returned to help the needy locally. Our Lorantffy Womens Guild had a very successful! Fish Dinner on May 4th. On May 6th our delegates participated in the Church Women United Conference’s Anniversary meeting in Staten Island. On Mothers Day the members of the Mens Club pro­vided flowers for all mothers, they were distributed by the children from the Sunday School. The members of the local chapter of the Hungarian Reformed Federation met in our church basement on May 27th, and elected our Pastor to he the delegate for the up­coming convention to he held in Ligonier in September. Mr. Géza Megyesi was elected as an alternate delegate. Ascension Thursday, May 31 during the worship service all five of the Confirmands were examined in public, all passed. Next Sunday on June 3rd they were confirmed: Dawn Finn, Robert George, Frank Janvari. Kimberly Landers and Clinton (Rusty) Miller. Our Chief Elder Leonard Sendel­­sky presented them with the gift of the Church Council, Holy Bibles of the New King James translation with their names ingraved on the cover. Their first Communion was given dur­ing the English service on Pentecost. Fathers Day is always the last Sunday of the Sunday School, when we have a family service, where the children lead the service, except the sermon and announcements. It is always an enjoyable event. Sunday School will start again after Labor Day. On July 8th our Pastor exchanged pulpit with The Rev. Zoltán Király of Passaic, NJ. July 15th the L. Womens Guild had its successful picnic for its members in the Park in West Carteret. Holy Communion for New Bread will he given on August 5th, both services. Chinese Auction ol the Guild will he on September 30th at 2:00, in Bethlen Hall.
