MAGYAR GGYlW 10. oldal NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS ALLEN PARK, MICH. The Christian Youth Fellowship annual Christ­mas cart party was on werwhelming succes. Thanks and appreciation to all who donated gifts, made special prizes or in anyway helped. All organizations of the church had a combined Christmas party on December 11th, with carol­singing and musical entertainment by Joe Jero­mos from Cleveland, Ohio. Fifteen turkeys and other gift items were awarded on November 21st, by the members of the Men’s Club. The Martha Circle Club had a successful “purse party" in November., The Dorcas Guild is sponsoring a bus excursion to New Orleans La (March 14—19). The Ladies Aid Society had its “grape-harvest festival” on November 6th, which was the best in recent years. Thanks to the folk-dancers, Mrs. Vilma Sabo and her group, the many workers and helpers and all who came. As is former years the Golden Circle Club is planning to have a traditional New Years Eve dinner. Th Sunday School children had an enjoyable bus excursion to the Michigan Science Center and are making plans for the annual Christmas program on Sunday, December 19th. The annual Christmas dinner of the Hungar­ian Butcher’s Club was held in our social hall, on December 12th. A Christmas holiday letter with the schedule of services and activities was mailed to all our members. BETHLEHEM, PA. On November 21st a “Covered Dish” Luncheon was held for the members and friends of our church. the minister and his wife were on vacation in their New Port Richey home with Mrs. Balint Ba­logh the wife of our chief elder. Rev. Stephen Szőke and his wife Yohanna visited us from Lakeland, Florida. On November 7th the Rt. Rev. Dr. István Mé­száros from Kisgyőr, Hungary was the guest speaker in our church. On December 24th, Christmas Eve, at 6:00 P. M. we will have English holy communion service. Hungarian and English Christmas church serv ice with holy communion will be held on Decem­ber 25th at 10:30 A. M. The holy elements will be donated by Mr. and Mrs. John Mihály. On New Years Eve we will not have services. On January 1st 1983. at 10:30 A. M. we will have Hungarian and English service. Our beloved organist, Mrs. Robin Rohrbach is on a three months maternity leave. The 48th Annual Dinner-Danc held on October 30th was a success. At this event we usually have a chance to meet local politicians and get acquainted with them. Senators Bradley and Lautenberg were present at this event along with Pastor Emeritus, Dr. Andrew Harsanyi. On No­vember 14th Rev. Imre Bertalan served from our Pulpit on Bethlen Home Sunday. We thank him for his service. On Thanksgiving Sunday, Nov. 21, Holy Communion was served at both English and Hungarian services. Our Christmas Bazaar held on November 27 and 28 was very successful, thanks to the members of our Lórántfty Women’s Guild. Both entrances to the church were completely rebuilt by the sponsorship of the Women’s Guild at an expense of $7,450. We certainly appreciate all the hard work of the women of our church. We also would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ruskowski who donated a bulletin board which was built on the corner of our church property, enclosed in a brick housing with lights inside. The Women’s Guild together with the Men’s Club held a Christmas Party for members and their families with a pot-luck dinner and music was provided for entertainment on December 3rd. The women will prepare kolbász on Decem­ber 14. On December 19 the Sunday School had a Christmas Party after the services held by the children. At the party, entertainment was provided by Vappo the Clown and his family. Christmas Serv ices: Combined Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve Dec. 24. at the English Service and at 11:00 A. M. at the Hungarian Service. Sunday there will be regular service. On New Year’s Eve there will be a party in our Bethlen Hall from 9:00 P. M. with dinner and dancing. All are invited. New Year’s Day Service will be held on Saturday January 1, 1983 at 11:00 A. M. a combined service. On Sunday regular Services. Funeral: On August 29th Mrs. Helen Horvath, mother of the pastor;s wife, Dorothy, was escorted to her final resting place in our cemetery, from our sanctuary. May God's infinite love heal the wound caused by the visit of his messenger, death. Our nursery was remodeled this fall, and now we accept children from 9 month up. The nursery is part of our Sunday School system, and is staffed by volunteers. Our Women’s Club donated $500.00 to the church treasury, to help out the congregation in its fight against inflation’s diverse problems. World Communion Sunday, October 3rd, 126 members received the Holy Elements. Our Annual Congregational Meeting for the year 1983, was held on October 24th in the sanctuary. Donald Koester, our English assistant elder declined nomination, Robert Szepesi was elected to be our English assistant elder for 1983. All other officers accepted nomination and were reelected. Andrew Wargo Jr., our deacon was elected to be a regular member of our church council in the class of 1985. The ladies of the church hosted an Election Day lunch and dinner, featuring Hungarian dishes; publicity and financial gain was good. Our Thanksgiving Communion, commemo­rating new wine as well, was observed on November 21st.
