MAGYAR ecyftflz 17. oldal NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS AKRON, OHIO On the first Sunday of Lent 139 person partici­pated in our Holy Communion service, 21 person received the holy elements in Lorantffy Care Center, 6 person at home. Our March 15th celebration was a great suc­cess. The Rev. Csaba Orosz was our main speaker, Dr. Otto Bernath, Mr. András Czecze and Mr. Ödön Orosz participated in the prog­ram. Our clear income was over 1,000 dollars. Our church received the newest refugees from Transylvania, they did find jobs in our Lorantffy Care Center. On March 20th Mr. Bruce Christopher Collins and Miss Linda Paulette Wilson were married in our church. Witnesses were Laurel and Clarence Hughes. On March 27th the meeting of our Western Classis were held in our church. Over 20 delegates from 7 congregations and over 30 guests from 8 congregations were present. The officers of our Martha Circle: Mrs. Eliza­beth Dömötör honorary president, Mrs. Imre Nagy president, Mrs. Sándor Sivo vice president, Mrs. John Tokár secretary, Mrs. József Druga treasurer, Mrs. Helen Patonai flower lady, Mrs. Terecia Banda and Mrs. Franciska Bakoss auditors. May God bless richly our newly elected officers and the members of our Marta Circle. We have a Bible Study group meeting every second Monday at 7 p.m. in our Fellowship Hall. Everyone welcome. ALLEN PARK, MICH. On Sunday February 28th, The Rev. August J. Molnár, prof, from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J. was our guest minister in ob­servance of Hungarian Heritage Day. Our mem­bers made contributions for the support of the Hungarian American Foundation. On April 29th the Martha Circle will sponsor a Mother and Daughter Banquet. On Saturday and Sunday, May 1st and 2nd, the district conference for young people will be held in our church. Invitations were sent out to all area churches and youth leaders. The spring bazaar and bake sale of the Ladies Aid Society is scheduled for May 10—15. Every year this is one of their best patronized projects. On Sunday May 30th, at 4 p.m. the Second Annual Paprikás Sunday will be held by the Golden Circle Club and Dorcas Guild. Statistics—Baptism: Stephanie Ann Canning, daughter of Mary T. Beaudrie, January 16th,—James Shearer and Marie Boroznaki, March 27th. BETHLEHEM, PA. Wedding: On April the 3rd 1982: Miss Roberta Ann Csizma our popular church organist and Mr. Kerry Lee Rohrbach exchanged marriage vows in our church. Witnesses were Mrs. Margaret Keefe and Mr. Jeffrey Rohrbach. RobertaAnn (Robin) is the daughter of our vice-chief-elder and his wife Jolán. Half of our congregation participated in the Lenten holy communion. The Holy elements were donated by: Mr. and Mrs. Steve Toth, Mr. and Mrs. John Maros Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Gyula Aszli, Mr. and Mrs. John Mihály and Mr. and Mrs. James Kovary. Our church was the host at the Annual Eastern Classis Assembly on March 21st. We are grateful to our ladies and council members who helped to made this a successful event. Mrs. Fabian, Mrs. Kadar, Mrs. Balogh, Mrs. Toth, Mrs. Turoczy, Mrs. Kovács, Miss Balog, Miss Sutus, Miss Wilder, Mrs. Kuronya, and Mrs. Wohlbach. We appreciate very much the Hungarian hospitality of our council members. Rev. L. Nagy preached in Hungarian at the Assembly. Rev. and Mrs. L. Nagy visited their ailing brother-in-law the Rev. Paul Ferenczy in Florida for a week. During his absence the Rev. Attila Kocsis preached and Rev. James Nagy visited the sick in the hospital. Mr. Frank Toth church member had a heart operation in Philadelphia. Thank God he is on his way to recovery. Mr. John Mihály council member was hospitalized who is recovering in his home. DUQUESNE, PA. Mrs. Eileen Halpem accepted the position of Youth Advisor. Our Youth Group is busy making up 1982’s program and is planning many activities, in the field of service to the church, educational programs, recreational activities — and the camp this summer in Laurelville. On the first Sunday of Lent 115 members of our congregation received communion. Funerals: Andrew Urban, honorary elder of our church was laid to rest on March 18th. David Wargo, former member, son of the late Wm. “Willie” and Alice Wargo was buried on March 23rd. John Paul Darnay Sr., former chief elder and councilman of our congregation was laid to rest on April 7th. Andrew Urban and John Paul Darnay Sr. were interred in our cemetery. Our Women’s Club is planning to hold a Salad Bar — Card Party on April 25th. A Mother’s Day Dinner will be hosted by our Youth Fellowship, assisted by men of the congre­gation, on May 9th. Confirmation will take place on May 23rd. De­tails will be published in the next issue of this ma­gazine. Pentecost Sunday and Memorial Sunday, both will be observed on May 30th.Communion will be administered, and a Memorial Service will be held in our cemetery at 3 p.m. Our Easter Season activities: evening services were held an Wednesday 7:30 (vespers) Maundy Thursday at 7:30 (communion), Good Friday 12 noon to 1:30 a community service and at 7:30 p.m. (Tenebrae). On Easter Sunday communion was administered twice — Hungarian service at 9:30, English at 11 a.m. McKeesport, pa. We had the first baptism of the year. The son of Frederick Clark and Lynn Ukasik was born on January 24,1982. And he was baptized on March 7, 1982. His name is Frederick Jr. Since there was no baptism in our church du­ring the year of 1981, it is good to mention that there are three more babies bom in our church fa­milies recently. Russel S. Gibson and Amy J. Stevenson married in our church on March 20, 1982. The Lord visited our church families with grief also. Mrs. Andrew Sotak, Bom on December 4, 1920 — Died on March 3, 1982. Her funeral was officiated by the pastor on March 6, 1982. — The Lord is our hope in our Joys and in our sorrows. The Church Ladies are making Hungarian Noodles again. They are coming to work at the Church on Tuesdays. Eight of us attended the meeting of the Western Classis in Akron, Ohio on March 27, 1982. When preparing this “News Release” we are getting ready to the Holy Week and Easter celeb­ration. Holy Communion will be administered in our church four times during this season. We are also invited to participate in the Good Friday Ce­lebration at the nearby Sampson’s Mill Presbyte­rian Church. Letters in regard to our schedule of services were mailed to all members of the Church. PERTH AMBOY, NJ. With the arrival of warmer weather activities in and around the church intensified. With partici­pation of the four Hungarian Churches in our city we hosted a March 15th Celebration in our Church Center. Speaker for the celebration was Rev. Gabor G. Nitsch, Pastor of our sister church in Carteret. The affair was well attended. A Flag Raising Ceremony was also held in front of City Hall of March 15th. At Easter services are scheduled both in English and Hungarian. Members were notified in an Easter Letter. On Palm Sunday a special “Easter Egg Hunt" was held for the member of the church and their children. Also on this same day a presentation of Handel’s “Messiah” easter portion was presented by the combined choirs of the city at the First Presbyterian Church. Our Choir members joined in the combined Choir. At the Easter Classis meeting our church was repre­sented by 10 council members. We all enjoyed the hospitality of the host Church in Bethlehem. Upcoming events include an “Interguild So­cial” by the Carteret Church for our women, and a Hungarian Theater presentation in our Center by the Combined Hungarian parishes on May 16th, Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available from the parishes from Easter. Dona­tion is $4.00. We wish a joyous Easter to all our members and readers of the Magyar Egyház. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO The Rev. Sándor Füleki conducted the Maundy Thursday service in our church. 82 person par­ticipated in the holy communion service. The dean of our classis visited our congregation and discussed the future of our church with chief elder Albert Batta and other church leaders. He will return on April 15th and will be present on our council meeting.
