14. oldal work, to a Christmas dinner and stage show at a well known restaurant. On the fourth Sunday in Advent, the Sunday School children held their Christmas worship service led by the little angels and the nativity scene formed with a 3 week old baby in the manger, the baby was then baptized at the end of the service. The children read the scriptures, said the prayers, led the whole service and Rev. Nitsch delivered the Christmas sermon. After the worship service all went over to the Bethlen Hall where the young people prepared for breakfast, along with doughnuts and coffee. After breakfast all enjoyed an exciting magician’s show and of course a visit from Santa. Christmas Eve was a surprise this year when for the candlelight service the Church was filled to capacity, to hear an original Christmas story of our new pastor. Next day, on Christmas Day, Holy Communion was served on both the English and Hungarian services with a very good attendance. The New Years Eve and New Years Day services were also unusually well attended. On New Years Day, after the service all were invited over to the Manse, where the Pastor and his family greeted the members of the congregation, wishing each other a Happy New Year. We started the new year with anticipation and hope, planning to bring in more old and new members, organize a youth fellowship, a choir, and prepare the 9 young people of the confirmation class for full membership. The leadership of our Church wishes to all the readers a blessed and a very Happy New Year. BAPTISM: Marcy Kathryn, daughter of Michael Gelato and his wife, the former Linda Kovács on December 20. Funeral: Paul Kovács, 73, on Dec. 11. May God give him everlasting peace. DUQUESNE, PA. During the Christmas Season through God’s providence, the weather’s cooperation and our members’ devotion our congregation enjoyed a record attendance at most services. Even the occasional snow did little to keep our God-fearing men and women from attending church. Holy Communion was celebrated at two separate occasions, as usual, in attendance were 132 members. Unfortunately the Youth Fellowship’s plans to go caroling was cancelled by dangerous road conditions. The treasurer’s report for 1981 indicates a welcome increase in donations. The increase closely follows the rate of inflation, and is distributed mainly in the church-supporting donations, such as offering, communion donations, donations to the Greater Glory of God, etc. The Pastor, the officers and church council gratefully recognize the membership’s responsible attitude toward the church’s needs, and prayerfully ask the Lord to inspire our community to continue this spiritually motivated physical growth meeting the necessities of life, in the coming year. The unusually severe winter weather cancelled several meetings during January and February, however we are looking forward to better weather in March, when all meetings are planned as usual. Coffee Hour, Cancer Dressing, Women's Club, Confirmation Class, Youth Fellowship, with God’s help, will meet as usual. The extreme cold weather caused water damage to our remodeled kitchen. Our chief elder, Frank Demes, councilmen William Kennedy and Robert Szepesi, with the Pastor’s assistance made immediate repairs, taking care of MAGYAR £GYftAZ other problems, discovered while completing the job. Not only did they save a great deal of expense to our church, but additional precautionary steps were taken to prevent a reoccurrence of this accident. We are facing substantial repairs in 1982, as it is, in our almost 30 years old building complex, therefore saving most of the repair cost is even more appreciated. During the coming Lenten Season we will hold our usual Wednesday evening Lenten Vespers, beginning on Ash Wednesday, at 7:30. In the next issue we will report on the Easter Season’s activities. Holy Communion will be celebrated on February 28th, first Sunday in the enten Season. McKeesport, pa. There was no baptism in our church during the year of 1981. We confirmed two boys and one girl in 1981. Marriages: two couples in our church and the pastor officiated at a wedding as substitute minister out of town in 1981. The pastor officiated at four funerals during the year of 1981, one funeral was out of our area the pastor officiated in the absence of the local pastor. The funeral we did not report in the Magyar Church yet was held on November 3, 1981. Maria (Mrs. Alex) Fazekas, died on October 31, 1981. The elected elders were installed on December 27, 1981. We hope and pray that they will understand and keep that they promised in their vow. On January 17,1982, the Lord called home one of our faithful members Edward Droppa. He became ill at the bus station when getting to the church. He died a few hours later in the hospital. — We are all in the hands of the Lord. Our Church will celebrate the 60th anniversary on September 12, 1982. The Anniversary Committee: the pastor, the chief elder, Albert Fazekas, Jimmy Lewis, Grace Kontz and Dorothy Debrason. The membership supported the Church during the year of 1981 very well. Services were held all Sundays and Holidays, even the coldest Sundays of January 1982 were not exceptions. TRENTON, N J. PERTH AMBOY, NJ. By the Grace of God we have entered a new year. With trust and faith in Him we are confidant that He will walk with us on the paths of this New Year. In this report from our church we would like to reminiss over the months of December,—since our activities were many. On December 6th under the sponsorship of the Women’s Guild we held our Christmas Bazaar, which was the most successful in recent years. This same Sunday evening our choir members with the participation of choirs from the city presented Handel’s “Messiah" at the Presbyterian Church. We all enjoyed the beautiful music and the sounding voices of the 50 member choir. On december 20th, our church Choir made their Christmas Cantata presentation at our english worship service. In the afternoon, our school children gathered for their Christmas program, which was built around Carols, and projection of the Christmas Story. As in the past our children received gifts together with the teachers from the church. To bring the Christmas joy into the houses of our members, the Fellowship Circle with our youth brought the Christmas Carols to as many as we were able to visit. On december 24th in the morning hours we said our farewell to Mr. Thomas Herczig—who was called home by Almighty God. In the evening we gathered for our Combined Christmas Eve Service—which was well attended. Our Church was beautifully decorated for the occasion. Christmas Three Tree was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Helyes, the Christmas Wreath was donated by the Volmann family in memory of Mr. Joseph Vollman who passed away in the beginning of the month. Christmas flowers were donated by our members. On Christmas Day the church was filled again with worshipers. Holy Communion was observed at both services. On Sunday, december 27th two baptism were held. At the english service Emily Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Gerecs, at the Hungarian Judith Nancy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Ostro were received into the Church of Christ. Added joy for the Ostros was the visit of parents from Czechoslovakia, who spent the holidays with their loved ones. We hope and pray that the spirit of Christmas, Love, Peace and Joy will rule every day of our lives. With the coming of the New Year our church activities pick up again. Our church school, Bible Study and organizational meeting will be held again at regular times. Our Annual Congregational Meeting was held
