MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 II. O how many times, our beloved, Dr. Zoltán Beky, Bishop, lifted up his voice to our Heavenly Father, from the pulpit of this House of the Lord. How many times during the nearly half century, he preached the eternal message of our Lord within these sacred walls. You his beloved congregation, are the witnesses that he had the same zeal and spirit, when he preached here last summer, as he had in 1928 when he first preached the Gospel to you. How many times he ministered to the members of every family in this congregation, baptizing, confirming, and consoling.... ? You who heard his voice, which was just as well known in other churches throughout the land, yea even in such far away places as South America, Canada, and Europe, where his service and mission led him, people learned to love him, as an ambassador of the Lord. NOW, it is our turn to lift up our voices to Almighty God, now it is our duty to lament the loss of our beloved spiritual leader, Dr. Zoltán Beky, who was an eloquent speaker and true representative of all Hungarian causes. May our Lord, who granted Him many blessings, who bestowed upon His servant His Holy Spirit, which enabled him to carry out great responsibilities, hear our cry, for his servant is ready to appear before His throne to receive his reward. Dear members of the family, friends and all, there is no other comfort which can give your heart and soul rest, but the comfort of our gracious Heavenly Father. There is no other word so powerful, as the Word of God, through which our Lord speaks to you: open your heart and soul before Him, and He will comfort you. When your heart faints and your voice fails, and your entire being is weak, lift up your voice with the words of the Psalmist “OUT OF THE DEPTHS, I CRY UNTO THEE, 0 LORD. HEAR MY VOICE.. III. God Almighty hears the voice of His children and He answers their cry. You members of the family know, how many prayers you and your beloved uttered here in this church, and they were answered by the Lord of Life. God Almighty has heard the cry of the people who lived in this community and heard the voice and prayers of our beloved Dr. Zoltán Beky, for three and a half decades, while he served the church and ministered to the needs of young and old, poor and rich, and everyone... He was a friend of all who knew him. Hear our prayer 0 Lord, when we cry unto Thee, hear us 0 Savior, when we plead with you to show Thy mercy and bestow Thy grace and comfort the ones who stand in grief before Thee now. Bless the memory of your servant in the hearts of his beloved family, the members of his former congregation, and his friends throughout the world, forever. May His life and service be an example to all of us, how to be more earnest, and more faithful, unto our Savior and His cause. May the prayers of this congregation uttered from the deepest depths of grief and sorrow, reach the highest Heavens and may God Almighty open the gates of his kingdom before His servant and receive him home. Amen. \ Dezső Abraham, Bishop ☆ ☆ I FAREWELL TO BISHOP ZOLTÁN BEKY NOVEMBER 30, 1978 By Anthony C. Beke, Chief Elder Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton, N. J. We are gathered here today to pay final tribute to a man of whom we, the members of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Trenton, New Jersey, have much to be proud. Bishop Zoltán Béky was born on June 21, 1903 into a family with a long ancestral line of prominent clergymen, educators and judges, and he too soon distinguished himself as one of the outstanding clergymen in our denomination and civic leaders in the Hungarian community. Graduating from the Sárospatak Theological Seminary summa cum laude in 1927, he was ordained by the Bishop of the Cistiscan Diocese of the Reformed Church of Hungary. He attended the New Brunswick Seminary for post graduate studies, and in 1928, was chosen from a field of twenty-two candidates to become the pastor of this church, which he served quite admireablv for thirtyseven years. He took an active role in the leadership of all church organizations and seemed dedicated to the youth through his guidance of the Sunday School and Summer School programs. I can still visualize the expression on his face when informed of the prank
