10 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ NEWS FROM THE CONGREGATIONS ALLEN PARK, MICH. The Hungarian Fair Committee worked all summer on their Monday night “craft project” which proved to be popular, and the International Fes­tival in Allen Park in August was suc­cessful. The Hungarian Folk Dance group with Mr. and Mrs. Julius Szabó, par­ticipated at various ethnic festivals during the summer, bringing recogni­tion to, our church, and the participants. During the Labor Day Presbyters Conference in Ligonier, Pa. Mr. Ed­mund Vig, Vice-President, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bone, and Mr. and Mrs. Mi­chael Biro represented the church; also our pastor. The masonry repairs of the church have been completed. We installed pre­cast perma-stone panels between the windows and on the columns. The total cost was $22,000. Thanks to those who made special donations towards the Re­pair Fund. Statistics. Baptism: April Marie Ko­vács, daughter of Bert. S. Kovács and Janice M. Jelsomino, was baptized on July 30, 1978. Marriages: Katherine B. Ploen and Dan R. Chamock, were married on August 5, 1978. May God bless them. Joel D. Ritschie and Phyllis A. Ma­­thia on Sept. 9th; Michael D. McTag­­gart and Karen J. Tóth on Sept 16th; Russel F. St. Pierre Jr. and Karen Kolláth on Sept. 23rd; Stephen Chick and Lillian Fargo on Sept. 30th; George Santo and Theresa Erős on October 7th. BETHLEHEM, PA. On August 13th we administered the Holy Communion of New Bread to 30 members and 2 shut-ins. The Holy Ele­ments were donated by Mrs. John Fa­bian and Rev. and Mrs. Louis J. Nagy. Thirty-nine members received Holy Communion, 5 shut-ins on World Wide Communion Sunday. The Holy Elements were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Imre Kery. The minister held the funeral service for Mrs. Imre Pash who passed away on August 25th in her 80th year. Mr. and Mrs. Imre Pash were married for 63 years. Mr. Frank Toth and Elizabeth Min­­doch were married in our church on July 22nd. During the Ministerial Association meeting in Ligonier, Rev. Nagy gave a memorial eulogy for 11 reformed minis­ters, 1 lutheran pastor and Sándor Ras­­ki bishop of Hungary who passed away last year. Rev. Bertalan Negyessy, his daugh­ter and his son visited in Bethlehem. The Holy Communion for Thanksgiv­ing and New Wine will be held on No­vember 19th. The Holy Elements will be donated by chief elder Balint Ba­logh and his wife. Preparatory service will be held on November 18th at 7:00 P.M. Mrs. John Remenar is visiting rela­tives in Dombrád, Hungary. Mr. Steve Turoczy and family visited in Hungary during the month of July. Mr. James Kovary, chief elder of the Eastern Classis, was stricken with a stroke and is now in the Good Shep­herd Hospital in Allentown, Pa. May God grant him complete recovery. On November the 5th Rev. Nagy will preach God’s Holy Word on the oc­casion of Dr. Aladar Komjathy’s 10th anniversary as pastor of the Montreal Church. The income for the past six months was $13,994.15 and the expenses for the same period were $13,161.40. We are grateful to God for our six months income which was more than last year’s total income. CARTERET, N. J. The 75th anniversary of the organi­zation of this congregation will be celebrated in two parts. On October 22 there will be a worship service of thanksgiving; former members have been invited to join in this worship. An anniversary banquet has been sche­duled for October 28. The Chinese Auction sponsored by the Junior Women’s Guild on Septem­ber 10 was a great success thanks to the splendid cooperation of all con­cerned. — At the Carteret Ethnic Fes­tival on September 17 the Hungarian Folk-Art Group (Jolán and John Ben­­ga from Perth Amboy) staged a beau­tiful exhibition of Hungarian embroi­dery. All church organizations have re­sumed their activities. The Lorantffy Society started their monthly meat­­sales; the physical strength of some members is waning but their enthusiasm and willingness to serve is unabated. The Sunday School had a good start with several “new” children. The Youth Fellowship’s new officers are the following: Carol Kovács presi­dent, Robin Finn vice-president, Denise Palmer secretary, Harry Brand treasu­rer. Funerals: Frank Vérségi, 71, died on September 10; he was born in Cson­grád, Hungary. Mr. Vérségi was an elder since 1961 and secretary of the church council for the last 10 years; he was also secretary of the Eastern Classis. — Gyula Czombos, 78, died September 24; he was born in Battyán, Ung County and lived since 1927 in New York and then in Fairfield, Con­necticut. After his retirement he moved to Fords, N.J. and was a member of the Carteret church for the past eight years. Baptisms: Jenny Carol and Scott Steve, twin babies of Gary Edwin El­mer Hartman and his wife, the former Lillian Elizabeth Anderson, on July 16. Godparents: Steve and Carol Frier and Bertil and Santa Anderson. — William Nils, son of Michael William Kovács, Jr. and his wife, the former Nancy Ruth Amundson, on August 6. Godparents: Bob and Beverly Van Deursen. — Amy Lynn, daughter of Julius Joseph Len­gyel and his wife, the former Linda Louise Parsons, on August 13. God­parents: Gordon and Bonita Baskay. DUQUESNE, PA. Baptism: The following foster child­ren of Nick and Jeanne Balias were baptized in our church on October 8th (godparents following each child in paranthesis) John Shaw (Dolores Belich & Joseph Walker); Trenda Shaw (Nick & Paula Balias); Paul Shaw (George Belich & Irene Zeleznik); Kevin Reefer (Robert & Sandy Hite) Deborah Reefer (Mark Skalican & Christine Starry). Funeral: Mrs. Alice Wargo, resident of Florida, a former member of our church for many years was laid to rest from our church on October 9th. The following activities are planned for October: Organ concert by Father Joseph Somos, world-reknown organist on 22nd; Sunday School Halloween Party on 27th; Fellowship Dinner on 29th. PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The month of September in the life of the church is another spring. While in the summer months the pews were half-empty, now like the birds which come back after a long winter fill the inside with devoted members. With the participation our meetings started, that with the help of God the Kingdom of God should he built among us. Our Pastor and family were away from the Congregation for three weeks visiting some of our sister churches in California, Arizona and Florida. In their absence church services were con­ducted by the Rev. Tibor Lőrinc. We are grateful for his assistance. In the
