12 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ Luther, and a chance for the young people to take part in the church service. Our Christmas pageant was inspired by material Luther wrote for his own children. Following the service and children’s program on December 8, the Women’s Guild sponsored a covered dish dinner and gift exchange for the church. It was a special day, enjoyed by all. The Women’s Guild-Lorántffy Nőegylet held a dinner on November 13. As usual, it was a great success. They are also sponsoring a trip to Radio City Music Hall on March 4. The ladies braved another New Jersey storm to hold a Valentine’s Day Dinner and elect new officers. The officers for 1978 are: Mrs. Helen Nagy, President; Mrs. Emma Peter, Vice-President; Mrs. Elizabeth Soltész, Secretary; and Mrs. Helen Bordash, Treasurer. The officers were installed on February 26. The annual Congregational Meeting was held on February 5. New officers were elected as follows: Allan Birkholz, Chief Elder; Elmer Soltész, Vice- Chief Elder; Joseph Bartha, Treasurer; and Bert Somogyi, Jr., Secretary. Mr. Joseph Varga was newly elected to the Church Council, and Mr. Joseph B. Varga was reelected. The congregation expressed their appreciation for the work of the Council, and pledged their support for the coming year. The officers were installed on February 19. The Church Council made kolbász this month and is now taking orders for Easter. The annual Elder’s Dinner is scheduled for March 12. We have the sad duty to report the death of Mrs. Mary Papp, who passed away in October. Mrs. Papp was a long and faithful servant of the church, and will be missed by all. We ask the community to join with us in praying that the Spirit of God remain with and comfort her family and friends. TRENTON, N. J. Our annual congregational meeting was held on January 29th. The income of the church treasury in 1977 was $54,376.17, which includes $4,000 transfer from the saving fund. The expenses were $61,108.86. A $10,000 bank certificate is included in the expenses. Total assets of the treasury on December 31st, 1977 was $84,685.21. There were 18 baptisms in 1977, 14 confirmations, 18 marriages and 33 burials. Members of the new church council: Minister Rev. A group of our women attended a social gathering, sponsored by the Carteret Women’s Guild, on February 2nd. The Lorantffy Zsuzsanna Society donated $1,910 to the church for Christmas. The Sunday School children sent their Advent banks donations, $100.00 to a missionary in India. The Sunday School children and their parents and friends enjoyed an ice skating party on February 9th. Baptism. Joseph Vadon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vadon was baptized on February 26th. Godparents: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leone. Marriage. Joseph Armstrong and Joan B. Quinn were married on February 18th. Witnesses: Mr. and Mrs. Timothy B. Holt. The Young Married Couples Club had a successful pancake breakfast on March 5th. The members of the Club will have a flower sale for Easter on March 18th and 19th. The Sunday School teachers visited the Children’s Department of the Trenton State Hospital, giving a Valentine party and gifts to the children. Ünnepi beszédet mondott Kerékgyártó Borbála a pittsburghi Magyar Irodalmi Kör elnöke. Böjti úrvacsoraosztáskor 112 testvérünk élt a szent jegyekkel. Lelkészünk feleségével együtt a Hawaii szigeteken töltött egy hetet, ahol kötelező tanulmányokat folytatott, melyekre a Lórántffy Otthon vezetésével kapcsolatban van szüksége. Lelkészünk meglátogatta miamii magyarságunkat és igét hirdetett a Reformáció Magyar Egyházának templomában. Ugyancsak tárgyalt az Egyesült Magyar Református Egyház vezetőségével, valamint igét hirdetett Kanadában a torontói Magyar Református és Evangélikus egyház istentiszteletén és résztvett az egyház évi közgyűlésén, amely kimondotta a helyi egyháznak az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyházhoz való csatlakozását. A Lórántffy Otthon új szárnyának építése március 15-én megkezdődött. Az elmúlt hónap során Szüts Dezső és Neje, clevelandi lakosok 10,000 dolláros adományt adtak az építkezésre.
