6 MAGYAR EGYHÁZ MAGYAR CHURCH HALLELUJAH! CHRIST AROSE! Christ the Lord is risen today, Allelujah! Sons of men and angels say: Allelujah! Raise your joy and triumph high: Sing ye heaven and earth reply: Allelujah! The glorious hymns of Easter will fill the churches in small hamlets and mighty cities in our nation and all around the world, for the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ will be foremost in the heart of every true God-fearing Christian. The roots of the doctrine of the resurrection go back in the Old Testament, but the real meaning of it was revealed to us in the New Testament in the teachings and life of our Lord, in His death and resurrection, which shook the world almost 2,000 years ago. In the gospel of John we read: “I am the resurrection and the life.” Yes, Jesus is the one who was crucified on Good Friday, and rose from the dead on Easter morning. The central theme of the Christian gospel is the resurrection of our Savior. Paul said in his epistle to the Corinthians, if there is no resurrection then our faith is vain and our life is vain also. Ever since the first EASTER morning when the news broke through in the cemetery of Jerusalem: “He is not here, Jesus is risen from the dead, He lives for ever!” This doctrine is the stumbling block for many: oh how many wise according to the world cannot believe it, how many vehemently oppose it and try to contradict and destroy the teachings of the Holy Bible about the resurrection of the dead. The witnesses whose testimony we believe recorded the events of the day of resurrection: how the disciples went out and saw the empty sepulchre themselves and heard the message of the angels: the women who wept were reassured by Jesus Christ Himself as He spoke to Mary, whose sadness and sorrow turned to joy. There were many other signs and appearances of Jesus before His disciples and followers which convince us, that Jesus rose from the dead and He is our living Savior and the word of God, the Bible is true. In the Acts of Apostles we read that the most important emphasis of the teachings and preaching of the first followers of Christ was, that they should have faith and trust in the resurrected Lord. Can you accept His resurrection as the joyous Easter message? Furthermore, the Easter story would like to convey that Jesus Christ is the resurrection and THE LIFE. What a change our Lord brought, first in the hearts and minds of the apostles, then among those who heard Him and received the benefits of His miracles. Sick people were healed, those who were possessed by the devil were cleansed, the dead were raised, and now the waves of this NEW LIFE through the resurrected Savior will go on to change more and more lives. If you would like to have a life filled with joy, a life with purpose and eternal values, turn to this Lord of Life who brought immortality unto you, through whom we move and have our being and unto whom we render praise and glory. May Jesus Christ the Lord of LIFE fill every believing heart with the glorious message of Easter. May the joyous hymns and prayers resound in every Church and home from shore to shore: He arose! He arose! Hallelujah, Christ arose! Dezső Abraham NINETEENTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE CHURCH WOMEN UNITED Sunday, May 7th, 1978 2 P.M.
