MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 13 lots of gypsy-music; previously, on December 1, there was an informal party and gift exchange at Bethlen Hall. At this time a past elder of the church, Lester Sabo, who happens to be the local postmaster, spoke on Christmas mailing and answered many questions concerning the Postal Ser­vice. At the November meeting a Guild­­member, Helen Dodge, held a Tupper­­ware presentation. New officers of the Junior Women’s Guild were sworn in by the Pastor in church on December 4. They are: Betty Matteo president, Janet Gudmestad vice-president, Judy Sendelsky secre­tary, Anne Marie Fuller treasurer, Helen Dodge chaplain. Pastor Dr. Harsanyi and the Rev. Matthias Ford, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Carteret, jointly officiated at a brief service where Joseph and Elsie Comba renewed their marriage vows on the 40th anni­versary. Mrs. Kay Lukach resigned as Super­intendent of the Sunday School. The Church Council expressed their appre­ciation for many years of her services in an official resolution. Mrs. Judy Miller is the new Superintendent. DUQUESNE, PA. Thanksgiving Communion was cele­brated on November 20th. 144 members received the Holy Elements. New arrivals: Michael David Carman, the son of David Carman and his wife, the former Cathy Danko, was baptized on November 27. Godparents were Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Muhic. Michelle Lynn Heveker, the daughter of William Heveker and his wife, the former Janice Sabo was baptized on December 4th. Godparents were Mrs. Debbie Oeler and William Sabo. Wedding: Ronald Sturkie and Sheryl Herr were married in our church on December 3rd. The church council authorized a general collection for the Johnstown Flood. We will forward the amount still being collected, through our de­nominational Mission Fund. Our Women’s Club donated a new 10 foot artificial Christmas tree to be used in the sanctuary. Lights and tree will be assembled by men and women of the congregation. Our Women’s Club has donated a bottle of wine to each resident of the Bethlen Home for Christmas. This is an annual custom of our Women’s Club. Christmas parties were held by our Cancer Dressing Group, the Women’s Club, the Sunday School and the Hun­garian Reformed Federation, Branch 202 at various dates. Our Christmas Schedule was an­nounced in the October-November issue. TRENTON, N. J. Baptisms. The sacrament of Holy Baptism was administered on Novem­ber 6 to Mrs. Richard Robotin and her two children, Richard Ronald and Wayne Eric; on December 4th Michael Silady, the child of Mr. and Mrs. Mi­hály Siladi; on December 11th Mrs. John G. Such and her son, John George. Marriages. On September 13: John Pointin and Alfreda Rapciewicz; on October 21st: Ronald Piatkowski and Helen 0. Davis; on November 14th: Jay Alvin Gsell and Ann Marie Eava­­rone; on December 3rd: Frank B. Ki­rály and Elizabeth Ann Hunt. Funerals. The annual meeting of the Eastern Classis was held in our church, on Octo­ber 9. Rev. Debra Johnson, pastor of the Roebling church, was our guest speaker at the Reformation banquet, on October 30. The $100 scholarship check of the Men’s Club was given to Robin Reedy, on October 9, in the church, by Mr. Geza Kuronya, club secretary. Our church donated $500 to help the earthquake damaged Hungarian Re­formed Churches in Transylvania. The new officers of the Young Mar­ried Couples Club. President: Walter Katona, vice-president: William Krae­­mer, treasurer: Anthony C. Beke, sec­retary: Margie Didrence, chaplain: Faith Catalfamo. The Young Married Couples Club had a successful square dance on No­vember 12, and a pancake breakfast on December 4. The annual bazaar of the Women’s Guild was held on November 26th, with a great success. The United Churchmen’s Annual La­dies Night Dinner of the Trenton Pro­testant churches was held in our church school auditorium this year on Decem­ber 1. Mrs. Mary Roebling was the main speaker. Rev. Stefan Torok of Perth Amboy and our pastor exchanged pulpits on November 27. YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO On Sunday, October 23, at 8 a.m. in the office of the pastor, due to an electrical short a fire broke out. The fire itself did not do too much damage, but the smoke and water damage was great. The office at the present moment is being repaired and we have good hope that very soon it will be finished. During the fire the pastor’s right hand was pretty badly burned. But God took away the pain so that he was able to hold the Sunday service on that day. On the first Sunday in November many participated in the Holy Com­munion for New Wine. This year, for the third time, all the Hungarian Churches held the Ecu­menical Thanksgiving service. On this occasion during the service served: Ft. Vitéz Baan, pastor of Our Lady of Hungary Rom. Cath. Church, Rev. Sán­dor Farkas, pastor of the Hungarian United Presbyterian Church, Ft. Daniel Loya, pastor of the St. George Byzan­tine Greek Cath. Church, Ft. Dezső Torok, pastor of the St. Stephen Rom. Cath. Church and the local pastor. Af­ter the service we had fellowship hour in our hall. Our church groups, during the long silence in the Magyar Egyház used every opportunity to help the church with their work. In November we had the Elizabeth Day Dinner, we made kolbász and more than one occasion noodles. The Yolanda Circle this year also represented the Hungarians at a Folk Festival with such success, that even though we had much-much more Hun­garian baked goods as ever before, by early afternoon everything was sold. Order of our Christmas Services: De­cember 24, Saturday,, at 7 P.M. “Can­dle Light” service. After the service for those who for some reason will be unable to attend the Christmas Day service we will serve Communion. De­cember 25, Sunday, regular service at 10 A.M. During the service Holy Communion will be served. New Year’s Day, regular service at 10 A.M. On December 11, the Rt. Rev. Louis Nagy, administrator of the Bethlen Home was our guest minister as he was holding the Bethlen Home Sunday. I would like to take this opportunity to express my and my family’s thanks for the love and sympathy showed to­ward us when first my father and four months later my mother was called into the eternal home. There were many who expressed their love from quite a distance. Thank you for the expression of your love toward us.
