MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 11 PERTH AMBOY, N. J. The last Sunday of October was one of the busiest days of the year. During the morning worship services we commemorated the Reformation in both our worship services, and meditated upon the heritage that the Reformation gave us as Reformed Christians. This however, did not conclude our Sunday Service, for in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. we held our Tombstone Dedication service in our Calvary Cemetery. This was the best attended service of dedication since the Pastor took office in the church. During this service, we dedicated four tombstones which were erected during the past year in the memory of: Mr. Joseph Scritore, Mrs. Aladar Orosz, Mr. Frank Dorosh, and Mr. William Sabo. May God bless their memory in our hearts and motivate us to continue whatever good there was in their lives. Following the Dedication Service we gathered to witness the uniting of two young couples in Holy Matrimony in our church. Those promising eternal faithfulness were Thomas Gilrane and Mary Fekete; and Edwin Deffler and Veronika Mardula. We wish them happiness and God’s blessing upon the young couples. During the first Sunday in November, we commemorated the Lord’s Supper in remembrance of Our Master the Lord Jesus Christ. Our assistance for this occasion was Miss Claire Miller from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. On November 13, we gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving by participating in our Thanksgiving Banquet. The attendance, we are sorry to say, was under our estimated number. The most beautiful moment of the Banquet was the giving and receiving of the estate of the late Mrs. John Arpad, who in her will desired that our church be the recipient of part of her will. The substantial amount was given over to our church by Mr. Albert St. Miklossy, executor of the will. We are grateful for such an unexpected gift. May God richly bless the memory of Mrs. John Arpad, who was His faithful servant and shared her love and riches with her brothers and sisters of the faith. On November 20, the members of the area Masonic Lodge participated together in a Worship Service with their leaders, two of whom we are very proud, — the President is our Church Councilman, Mr. Andrew Racz; and Vice-President, Mr. Joseph Banyacsky. Following the service, the members were given an honorary breakfast in our Fellowship Hall. Very soon we will all be caught up in the Christmas Spirit. Bevezető előadást Varga Elemér az Amerikai Magyar Református Egyesület titkára tartott: A presbiter és egyháza” címmel. A környékbeli gyülekezetek lelkészeikkel és nagyszámú küldöttséggel képviseltették magukat az egyházi konferencián. Október elején megkezdődött a konfirmációi oktatás, megindult az Ifjúsági Csoport munkája és Énnekkarunk rendszeres szereplése az istentiszteleteken. Október 16-án megkereszteltük Király Anita Monicát, akinek szülei az erdélyi származású Király Mártonék, keresztszülei pedig lelkészünk gyermekei Dömötör Erzsébet és Dömötör Tibor lettek. Szeptember 28-án eltemettük Petroff Maryt (86), november 16-án pedig Kiss Margaretet (65). Isten vigasztalja a hozzátartozókat. Október 22-én ünnepeltük az erdélyi származású Sipos Mártonnak, a Lorántffy Otthon legidősebb lakójának 100-ik születésnapját. A Lorántffy Otthon tavasszal meginduló építkezéseire az elmúlt hetekben a következő nagyobb adományokat kaptük: Jaksa József és neje 2,000.-, Nyisztor Zsuzsánna 1,000.-, Csörgey Jolán 1,000.-, Tábory Irén 1,000.-, Eibeck Elizabeth 1,000.-, Brown Harley 1,000.-, Buffington Irma 1,000.-, Bálint Mary 500.-, Rubala Zsuzsanna 500.-, Tóth Zsuzsánna 500.-, Alexi Katalin 500.-. Az eddig pénteken esténként tartott magyar órát hétfőn tartjuk meg: Szabó Ilonka tanít. Érdeklődőket még mindig szívesen látunk. Szüreti bál lesz november 5-én, a magyar népi tánc csoport fellépésével Szabó Vilma tanításában; mintegy 50 főnyi csoport gyakorol hétről hétre korosztályok szerint. A Magyar Örökségeinket kiállítani óhajtó bizottság Kish Betty vezetésével november 15-én magyar sütemény bemutatót rendez a helyi újság közreműködésével. A helybeli egyházak együttes Hálaadás Napi istentiszteletet tartanak templomunknál november 23-án este 7:30-kor. A Nőegylet őszi sütemény vására és bazárja október 12-14-én szép eredménnyel zárult.
