MAGYAR EGYHÁZ 5 MAGYAR CHURCH DAYS SHOULD SPEAK . . . AND YEARS SHOULD TEACH . . . —Job 32:7 A8 we arrived into this New Year of our Lord 1977 let us realize that each day in this coming year can speak to us and each passing year can teach us something. Oh, how happy are the ones who keep their hearts open and their minds tuned to the daily teachings of our Heavenly Father. The psalmist said: “day unto day uttereth speach and night unto night showeth knowledge”. Truly as the sun comes up every day and goes down on its journey, as the earth revolves around the planets and as the stars and myriads of heavenly beings all fulfill their mission, they speak to us about our Heavenly Father, who is the Omnipotent God and Creator of the universe. Each day as we are asleep, not knowing what goes on around us in the world should teach us that our Heavenly Father cares for His children and His mercy is renewed in our life every day. He does not punish the offenders of His laws immediately: He gives rain and sunshine upon the fields of the just and unjust: patiently He awaits the return of the prodigal sons and daughters, who have strayed from the Heavenly Father’s home. Let therefore, the days of this coming year, yea, every day of our life remind us, that our God has given us another opportunity to learn more from His Holy Writ and to come closer to our Savior Jesus Christ. Every hour of every day can teach us a lesson. Have you learned to pray without ceasing? Have you learned to praise your Lord and give thanks due to His holy name? Have you learned to come faithfully to church every blessed Sunday, to glorify and praise the name of your Master? Do you sing wholeheartedly with the choir and church members? Do you bow down every day to thank God for all the blessings showered upon you and your family? This New Year will give you such opportunities. Children and young people who go to schools, colleges and universities learn many things, but the question is have you learned any good lessons in your life from God’s Holy Word? 1. Just to mention a few let me emphasize “FAITHFULNESS” which ought to be learned by Christians from one end of this world to the other. Be faithful to your God and His Son our Savior with unswerving adherance. In every congregation as the officers prepare the list of “voting members” who fulfilled their obligations towards the church, how good it is to find “old faithful” reliable members who never waiver or change. Faithfulness, oh how much it is needed in our every day life. When Jimmy Carter the new president of our country was officially installed we prayed, that he may be faithful, strong and unchangahle in keeping the oath he took and performing the manifold duties awaiting him, and fulfilling the promises he made to the people of our nation before election. Yes, in our churches we need faithful members, officers and leaders of the various organizations, not only in this New Year, but forever. Let the days and the years teach us to be faithful. 2. Then again, we should learn the virtue of “LOYALTY” in this coming year 1977. What is more essential in times of crises than loyalty? Be loyal to our gracious God and to the Captain of our Faith Jesus Christ. Be loyal to the leaders of your church, and to your congregation. Be loyal to your friends and to truth and justice. Let your allegiance be above reproach, so that everyone may know that you are a disciple of Christ. Oh how sad it is, when someone betrays his own country and turns his fellow soldiers over to the enemy. How sad it is, when a disciple of Christ betrays his Master as Judas did, either for silver or gold, or other personal gains, thus forgetting all about his loyalty to Christ. Poets and authors write about such, and many lessons may be learned each day. So let the days and the years teach us to be loyal to our God and Savior, and to His church. 3. Furthermore, let this word “STEADFASTNESS” be inscribed into your heart and soul this
